Down on the Homestead - Nov. 7 - 13th
Good morning everyone on this very nippy but sunny morning. Everyone is still sleeping here so its nice and quiet.
Last night was movie night and while dh and the kids watched the movie, I knitted a dishcloth. I will probably make a couple more today as well as the ones I have need to be thrown out. I can knit one up in about an hour and a half if I don't have many interruptions. I have lots of wool so I don't need to go out and purchase any. I'm just using up scraps of wool I have here.
I usually try to make Sundays my day of rest but we need to into Winnipeg tomorrow so I do need to do a few things today.
~a couple loads of laundry
~clean the oven (scalloped potatoes boiled over)
~make lunches for tomorrow
~clean the post office tonight
~rake leaves (finally its not windy today)
~make a dishcloth later tonight
Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Good Morning, it is a windy morning here in the Midwest today but the sun is shinning and it isn't raining to it’s a good day! I still have a half of a row of carrots in the garden which I need to get dug today and some bedding to get washed up. My husband and son are off to cut some more wood.
Sunday's here are usually pretty laid back, after animal chores but winter is coming and there are still things to be done outside. Have a great day!

Morning CJ and all to follow,
We are 2 weeks away from our theater show so I have a practice today.
I have been up and doing laundry since about 7 and have 2 loads done. I'm waiting for it to warm up a but so I can hang it on the line.
We need to clean and scrub the bathroom today. I know this kind of makes me a freak but I like cleaning the bathroom. I can get results quickly and be on to another project.
Did a bit of Christmas shopping this week. Alexa's is well under way. Michael didn't want me to start his.
Not sure what I'm going to make for dinner.
Have a peaceful day everyone!
Marcia

We've been to church and stopped by 2 grocery stores on the way home.
Dh is doing some measuring for who knows what (LOL - he has so many projects going I can't keep track) and is salivating over some new wood that just arrived at Home Depot. I am going out in a few minutes to do some weeding in the garden. I got most of it done yesterday, but then noticed a few spots I missed when I watered it.
Our temps were supposed to be in the high 70's this weekend, but we've made it into the mid-80's instead. It's in the 60's at night and I am loving curling up in a throw blanket while sitting on either of the sofas in the living room. They are both by the huge 3 windows and all that cold air coming in freezes me sitting there.
We have a church meeting to attend this afternoon (budget stuff for next year, ministry goals, outreach goals, etc.).
Not much else planned for today!
Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!
I wish I had time to post yesterday, I have been cleaning house and doing about five loads of laundry. DH had to work yesterday and so tonight we are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary at La Coretta, our favorite Mexican restaurant. We have 8 friends coming too! I hope it's a fantastic time!
I'm rethinking my Christmas cards again. I don't why I have been so wishy washy about them this year. I've only made one, so I'm not fully into one type yet.
Well I have one more load of laundry and I have to do the dishes, take a shower and then get ready for tonight. I hope you are all having a great day!

Morning girls.
It rained all day yesterday so I had a very quiet day at the store.I just peeked out the window, it's misty, wet and lovely.
I did one of my tiny scarves while I was at work but no one commented! I think my hands concealed my work, maybe no one saw what I was doing. OR, I just thought of this, maybe they thought I was demented and it was best not to comment. HA! who knows, but I will be doing a few more today. It's quite difficult to start them but after the second or third row it's quite easy. The first one looks very cute.
Debbie, come over to my house and we can play "homesteaders". You can look after the chooks and collect vegetables and I'll bake some bread and cake for us to scoff on the front verandah.
Today I'll be at the store again, but before I leave I'll be phoning my sister. It's 11 years today since our beloved mother, Jean, died. My sister will visit her grave today and take some lilacs - Jean's favourite flowers.
Not much else going on here. I hope you all enjoy today.

Just a few minutes to check in today!
William and I were the only ones off to church this morning. Andrea has a bad sore throat and Josh didn't want to sit alone. (DH is working).
William read "In Flanders Fields" for our Remembrance day service. I was singing on the worship team.
William has a special meeting for cadets today so I am going to drive him to that and then Andrea and I are going to the library and to look for winter boots. We'll also try Valu Village to see if we can find her some jeans. She's tough to buy for because she is 5'8".
Supper tonight is a roast (on special for $1.99 a lb) done in the crockpot of course, rice and carrots.
Still have bread to bake, muffins to make and some knitting while watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition tonight.
Have a great evening all!

Good luck on your interview Kimmee!!!

Bethany~I would not call you demented darling, just excentric!
Today is another busy one here. We had planned on going up to Spokane for church today but found a problem with the radiator fluid in our van. Upon calling our friend (who is the salesman that sold it to us) he said to bring it in on Monday and they would get it taken care of because either :
a. they did not check it and flush and change the fluid before they sold it to us as they were supposed to
or
b. they added a different kind of fluid to it that you are not supposed to mix with the old fluid
It's now looking a browish color and has crusty floaty things in it.
so needless to say the whole family can't go anywhere together since the van is the only vehicle that will fit us all.
We are making the most of it though...since we are home today we decided to get some more projects here done. The boys pulled the rest of the flower, tomato and squash vines out, reseeded an area with the cosmos seeds, raked the front yard and Jaysn drove Chris out to get some compost for our rhubbard plant. Jeff cleaned the garage out and decided this morning that we wanted to bless our friend Lisa with a beautiful dresser that we were given but will not fit in our home without taking out a bunch of other stuff. Lisa was thrilled when he called since she is a single mom of 8 kids (nasty divorce from her abusive EX left her with nothing). We also have some winter clothes the boys have outgrown that we want her to look through to see if there is anything there that her family might be able to use. As for me, I've been busy baking 4 loaves of bread, making a big crockpot full of lentil and vegi soup and researching herbs for healing. I've also been re-reading some of Laine's Letters that I have copied off and have in a big binder. Her letters always inspire me to do more for my family and to "enjoy" these precious moments.
The twins are off this afternoon doing yard work for people. Chris is raking a yard full of leaves and pine needles and Josh is mowing a lawn and then fertilizing it. Jaysn has a friend over and is playing video games for awhile. BTW, I'm loving that Jaysn has his driver's liscence, he can run all the errands here in town for me and within a few months we'll have him taking his brothers to and from their guitar lessons in the next town over. He is thrilled and was a bit surprised when we asked him to run his brother out to get the compost today since usually Jeff and I have been with him.
Tonight we are planning on watching the movie "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner". It's one of my all time favorites and I found the copy I borrowed from my Mom her today while I was cleaning the video cabinet out. Sidney Poitier and Katherine Hepburn are 2 of my favorite actors and I just love to watch anything with them in it. Katherine Hepburn reminds me of my Grandbunny with her manerisms and the way she talks and just personifies class.
YOu all have a great day!

Whew since I posted this morning, it looks like everyone has been busy including our family.
I've gotten 2 loads of laundry done and need to do one more. I also sewed a full strip to my wall hanging, took out all the patterns I have for pj's so on Tues. I'm ready to start sewing.
Dh then went and mowed the lawn at the post office and the kids and I got busy raking leaves, putting the flowerbeds to bed and cleaning up the yard. When dh got home, he then mowed the lawn. That job is now completely finished.
I still have the oven to clean which I'm off to do right now. I hate that job but in order to have pizza tonight it needs to be done. Then I need to make lunches for tomorrow.

Congrats Kimmee....
I also enjoy cleaning the bathroom, it is the quickest and easiest to do!!
As for today, nothing major is going on. I am going to read through some magazines I got last night, read at least three chapters in my book, and try to finish crocheting my christmas tree skirt. I worked on it this morning, and I only have 4 rows left to do and then the holly leaves and berries, but took a break anyways.
The goats and chickens have been fed and given fresh water, so that is basically all the chores for today.....So I can say I did finish something I started today!!!
For breakfast we had sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits....no lunch, just snacked on fruit, and for dinner.....Spaghetti, Baked Potatoes, and Salad!
Have a great day.....
