    Default the honeysuckle is blooming

I've just spent the last hour on my verandah looking after my babies who are neglected when I'm working at the store. I gave them all a drink of seaweed and a good drink of water. I swear a few of of the plants smiled at me.

The ginger, which dies down in winter, is now about 12" high. Soon it will have pale pink and lilac flower spikes on it. My Amazon lilly is full of leaves and hopefully will flower soon. It has a white flower exactly like a daffodil.

The sun was just coming up through the pine trees at the front of our house, the gentle half light of the new sun gave everything a fresh glow and I could smell the sweet fragrance of the honeysuckle.

    Life's good.

I am so envious. Everything is brown here.

On the bright side you can smell the scent of wood fires burning in the air!

Nice weather! Sounds like a wonderful day. Cold and brown here too. It is fun watching the squirrels here though. They are absolutely HUGE this time of yr.

I love the smell of honeysuckle. We have some in our side yard, and it is so fragrant.

Everything is cold and white here now...can't wait for spring!

Chriss, I LOVE the smell of wood fires burning.
Sara, do the squirrels go into hugeness mode because they hibernate? Or are they pregnant?
Kimmee, I know about critter smells. It's like that in our chook coop, especially after rain. Yuck!
Michelle, what is it about honeysuckle? Everytime I smell it, it stops me in my tracks.

Life is best appreciated in the garden, isn't it Bethany? I love, love, love honeysuckle. We had a huge old bush that recently died back and dh cut it back hard. I'm hoping it will come back out in the spring.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
