Down on the Homestead 1/9-1/15
GM homesteaders!
Today is to be a lovely day. 58* F so, I think I'll take a nice long walk! I tols Alex she is going with me. She has been SO crabby lately Ah hormones
I have started laundry and have one load in the dryer. It is not warm enough to hang on the line outside. I do shirts and such on the rod in the basement but they take a very long time to dry.
I need to go let the chickens out of the coop. I keep them in their coop when it is nasty out. Our coop is actually an old barn so they have lots of room in there and it has electric so they don't just sit in the dark when locked up.
I went to all recipes and get a new recipe for dinner, peppered beef with cabbage I'll let you all know how it turns out.
I will serve it with egg rolls I got on sale last week.
Last night we had some friends over and they let us borrow the movie Super Siz Me. Wow what an eye opener that was. V.G. movie but not for the week of stomach. I need to list a couple things on free cycle today and get to the dishes in the sink from last night.
Have a peaceful day all.

Goodmorning Marcia!!!!

It's a beautiful and snowy Sunday here! We all all enjoying watching the fluffy flakes fall from the sky and I personally can't wait to get out there and make a snowman with it! The last snowfall we got was too dry and would not hold together but this stuff looks perfect! Since the boys are going down to church here this mornign I may have to drag DH out into the yard with me and have hime help me build one!
:bsnow:
The boys are going to a potluck later today so Jaysn is making a big peach cobbler to take. I've got some baking to do myself (4 loaves of ww bread and 2 loaves of banana bread) and may make a big pot of mushroom/barley soup. I have no idea what hubby's plans are for the day. I think he is enjoying just relaxing and that is fine.
Hope you and everyone else that follows has a wonderful and blessed day!

Howdy Everyone!
Marcia- Supersize Me was the most excellent movie! I will never eat at MacDonalds again! Have a good day today!
Debbie- A girl after my own heart...someone that likes to play in the snow! We have beautiful snow today too!
DH is working on his car until 5 today and I am sewing, as you can see! The final load of laundry is on the line. When DH helps me get home we are cleaning the clutter tonight before our guests come. Stuff in the kitchen and basement. We are doing it together and DH's idea too!
I hope you are all having a great day!

Morning everyone, well no it should be good afternoon. I've been sitting here this morning doing MUCH contemplating. I need to instead get into my quilting room and quilt. Maybe all the negative things I'm thinking will disappear once I start quilting.
I so wanted to sleep in this morning. Instead we got a phone call from dh's friend wanting him to go for coffee. That was the end of sleeping in. Once up though I got the kids fed and then came here.
Later today we need to clean the post office and do a bit of shovelling. We got about an inch of snow last night, nice fluffy stuff. Today is nice and sunny so I'll send the kids out to play.
Tonight I plan on doing some reading.
Have a great day.

Good morning my girls.
The weather continues to be un-summery which my son is complaining about as he wants to go surfing on his days off. There's a cyclone hovering off the coast so at least he'll have good surf even if it's cooler than he likes. The cyclone is called Cyclone Kerry, so he's only got himself to blame for the weather LOL.
This monring I'll be doing laundry, baking bread and cleaning the floors. This afternoon I hope to be comcentrating on needlework and drawing. What a great life I have. I wonder what the workers are doing.
Marcia, my DS bought Super Size me. It's a really good film.
Debbie, I'd love to play in the snow too. Do you build the snowman and then pelt him with snowballs?
Michele, I'm not really up to speed on your news, but I hope you enjoy the time with your guests.
CJ, I hope quilting helped removed your negative thoughts.
Jeanna, sounds like a nice relaxing day for you. Enjoy!
Hi to everyone who comes in later.

Good afternoon!
I missed posting yesterday so I had lots of reading to catch up on today.
Yesterday we slept in until 11 am
We had a big breakfast/brunch and then left to drop Will off at a friends for the day. Josh and Andrea stayed home. DH and I went to Lee Valley Tools so that he could spend a gift certificate he got from his mom for Christmas. Imagine my surprise at what he picked out...a harmonica
I have been teasing him because he doesn't play an instrument (even though he loves music). I guess he took me seriously and the harmonica was what he chose to learn to play.
In the afternoon we drove down to the St. Lawrence to help my mom set up her new computer (which we ended up not doing since she didn't have enough cable to set up her new network) She made DH and I a fabulous steak dinner and we got to have a really nice visit with my parents.
This morning we actually all managed to get up for church. DH is napping as he is working a later shift tonight. Will has band in a little while so Andrea and I will go to the library whilst we wait for him. I ordered some books on pioneer cooking (for our challenge this month) and I want to pick them up . Hoping to get some good ideas
Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday my friends.

Good afternoon homesteaders!
We've been cleaning this morning and my friend and her dd came over to bring us our Christmas presents (they forgot them the last time they came over). I took my friend to see one of the zebras that lives in our area (at a residence) (we have heard there are 2 near us) - we just finally found it ourselves yesterday! We were driving past the house and I looked over and couldn't believe it! It's beautiful!
Dh is back at work on the bath remodel. The tile hunting didn't go well yesterday. The price quote (even with a discount because of where dh works) was outrageous! We will definitely be doing some more shopping around. Being down to one bathroom is not fun though. The tile guy can't even come look, measure and give us an installation estimate until the Sat. after next and if his price is right who knows when the work will get done. Dh designed a vanity that he will build, but I took one look at it on paper and didn't like it. LOL So, I redesigned it.
I've been doing more organizing and want to work on that more today and I have quite a few issues of Cooking Light from the library to look through. I may wander out and work in the garden later this afternoon, but it's just too hot right now (mid 80's).
Have a great day everyone!

Just a quick hello this morning!
I filled the kitchen with smoke this morning so I am sitting in a cold draft with my ceiling fan running full tilt and the patio door wide open. Good thing it is mild out today. I forgot that I had spilled lasagne sauce in the oven
I am spending the day at the hospital with Josh. He has a bunch of testing and appointments scheduled. DH is child minding for me. I am going to take my knitting and some books as I pretty much just get to sit and wait.
Hope you all have a wonderful day

Good Morning Everyone!
Not feeling too bad for a Monday. I always wished they were optional for work.
I need to go to the DMV today for DH. I am just reregistering his car. No biggie, he gave me a check so all I need to do is run it over there. DH asked me what I wanted in exchange for doing this for him, I told him I wanted a tank of desiel for our car! This is how we barter sometimes.
Funny, but we always make it work out so it benefits both of us...I hate pumping smelly desiel and DH hates going to the DMV...problem solved!
DH's cousin Jim and his GF are coming in tonight. They will be here for dinner, so tonight I will be making cheeseburger stew (again-We love it!). I have a menu planned for the whole week and Jim said he would cook one night for us! Woohoo! He comes to visit us about 6 times a year, a week at a time, so I have been doing a lot of cooking for him!
I'm looking forward to the visit. Jim's GF, Heather, wants me to show her how to sew a pillow...DH made the comment "Ahh, it starts!" I just gave him the "look"!
CJ- I hope quilting yesterday helped you cope with your thoughts. It always seems to help me too.
Jeanna- I hope you had fun at your church Spanish class! It sounds like fun!
Rhonda- Cyclone Kerry!
and how did DS like that comment?
Chriss- DH has a harmonica too, but hasn't learned...I don't think he will.
Sorry to hear about your smoky kitchen! Hope Josh's tests go well!
Kim- Glad you are getting the new bathroom the way YOU want it! Designing is fun!
Have a great day!

Chriss~I pray Josh's tests and appointments go well.
I spent lots of time in the hospital having testing and appointments as a child. I'm so glad you are staying there with him...my parents just dropped me off and left me coming back later to hear the results and pick me up.
It's a very cold Monday morning here. I know it was down below zero last night because at 9 p.m. the thermometer was at 0 F!
Today is another school day for us and a catch up around the house day for me chore wise. I have my menu to figure out (didn't get to it this weekend), more baking to do, some paperwork and I also work this afternoon and evening. I'd like to get more reading done and sort through more clothing to get rid of. Honestly, how many t-shirts does one woman need?
Praying that everyone has a blessed day!!!

Chriss - I hope all goes well at the hospital today!

Good afternoon everyone!
I've had a couple of unexpected things to deal with today. One of the dogs puked in a couple of places in ds's room so that was lovely to clean up - NOT! That created an unexpected load of laundry (since the dog bed got slimed). Then halfway through the wash cycle I happened to go into the utility room and noticed the washer leaking! There wasn't a lot of water, but I had to move our emergency supply of water out of the way to get it all cleaned up. Dh will have to have a look at what's going on when he gets home.
The bathroom is coming along - I have no idea what dh is doing, but I got to help hang sheetrock last night. Goodie! LOL
Ds and I are just back from errands and I'm going to work around the house a bit and head out to the garden later when it's cooler (mid 80's again today - I'm not complaining!).
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning!!!
Today is a pretty laid back day here. Matthew and I worked on cleaning the backyard up yesterday, it was awful! We had put two riding lawn mowers on freecycle, and the guy never showed up to get them. That aggravates me to no end!!!! Last night we had choir practice after church. We were invited to come sing at the Bible Conference in Bowling Green. So tonight Matthew and I will be at the Bible Conference! Junior Hill is the evangelist that is going to be preaching, he is awesome. The Lord is really using him and I am ever thankful that I have the chance to hear him preach again!!!! Tomorrow we will be at the conference again, singing, and to listen to the preaching! Al Moehler, sp, will be preaching this night. He is another wonderful man of God!
Today I need to:
~Clean catpan
~Wash dishes
~Fold towels
~Laundry(2 loads)
~Sweep kitchen
~Sweep laundry room
~Sweep bathroom
~Vacuum living room
~Organize coupons
Not a whole lot, for that I am thankful! Tonight for dinner we will have Baked chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, corn, mac n cheese, and iced tea!!!!
I hope ya'll have a wonderful day!!!!
