    Default plalnting vegtables

I have a very large yard but it is in deep shade, aside from taking down a few trees there is no hope for a garden. So here's my question, can I plant vegtables in say a rose garden? I always wonder if the vegtables would be affected if they were planted with any poision's plants. Does anyone know?

I know my uncle (who lived in St. Louis with a TINY yard) would plant his radishes, lettuce, tomatoes in the rose bushes along his drive.

I don't know about the poisions.

It's fine to plant vegetables and ornamental plants together. In fact that's how gardens were planted in the past - everything in together in a formal way. It's called a potager garden. Real potagers are planted along very formal lines but you can plant yours however it suits you. Here are some links you might find helpful. Let us know how you go with it.
