Down on the homestead - Feb. 6 - 12th
Good morning homesteaders. Its a beautiful sunny day here but with cold temperatures.
I got busy this morning and ground up some grain. The bread is now rising and almost ready for its second rise.
I've been ironing material and folding it and putting it away.
I also have the vaccum cleaner going and getting the upstairs done.
Later today I plan on doing some quilting and possibly some crocheting. Tonight I'm off to the post office to clean.
Have a wonderful relaxed day everyone.

The sun can't decide if it's going to stay out or stay behind the clouds today! It's definitely not as nice of a day as forecasted.
Two loaves of bread just came out of the oven a bit ago and 3 dozen pecan muffins are about to come out. I need to make something for ds since he doesn't like pecans and some cheese breadsticks that we'll have with dinner tonight. I've already been out to the garden and may mow later today if it doesn't rain.
Dh is busily working on the bathroom remodel so I'll be his assistant throughout the day. I also hope to finish going through our huge entertainment center today. I got quite a bit done on it yesterday and found a few things to get rid of.
Have a great day everyone!

good morning everyone.
Not much happening here except stitching and laundry today. I'll slip in a few other things that I'll think of later but those two activities will be my focus.
It's hot here and there is a cyclone (hurricane) up in the gulf so it looks like we might get some heavy rain later in the week.
Enjoy today.

Heavy fog descended on us last night and so I drove to church this morning barely able to see the road in front of me. It has lifted now and the sun is trying to shine through a haze of smog. I had to take another antihistamine and do my inhaler this morning just from a walk from the car to the church! It is very mild though.
This afternoon DH and the kids are going shopping and I am going to work on some knitting and crocheting.
Have a good day everyone!

Hi everyone!
Chriss, we've have that fog as well....on and off the last week or so, it's cold at night and then heats up quick in the morning. (well, not that hot
)
I didn't sleep well last night so I think I'll lay down for an hour this afternoon. We went to church this morning and I taught Sunday School. Kody had a reading in the service today. We came home, had lunch and then DH and Dylan went to Dylan's hockey game. I've got supper in the crockpot. I made a "Skinny Chocolate Cake" (from Tupperware) in the microwave after church and it turned out real good! The kids loved it topped with whipped cream and it was SO easy to make and only took 8 minutes in the microwave.
This coming week I've decided to concentrate on the house....Dylan's lessons are planned and Delaney will be back to school (may stay home tomorrow). I have this overwhelming urge to get my house in order. It's the one thing that nags me constantly. With not being well the last while I've let things slide. I've got lots of meals in the freezer and baking so it'll be great as I won't need to spend alot of time in the kitchen.
DH and I were planning our gardens yesterday and will more tonight after supper. We've got so much ordered this year so lots to plant. I'm looking forward to this spring and getting out in my garden.
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Hi all,
Not feeling well today so I have been kind of taking it easy. I did the rest of the laundry and did the dishes. I think i might make some dog biscuits later. I got a mix for Christmas and the babies love them. I would like to take the dog on a walk if it would stop raining for any length of time.
Mike needs some jeans mended so I have that yet to do and then I need to start working on my lines for the play I'm in next month.
Yesterday we got most of the house work done. We cut wood and got about a coord so I think we are set for the rest of the year.
Have a nice day all.

Hi, me again!
DH and I just returned from the beach. He wanted to go down for a swim so we both went, along with the dogs. It's so beautiful down there. There were lots of people walking and jogging, the early morning surfers taking advantage of the bigger than normal waves and lots of migratory birds resting and feeding along the shore line.
Beaches are lovely when there aren't many people on them, which I guess is true of most places.

Good Monday morning all,
At least I think it is good. I went to bed last night feeling like I have a cold coming on and sure enough I woke up to a cold this morning. Everyone except me and DH including the daycare kids have been sick so I guess it was just a matter of time. I'm drinking my version of "hotsy and honey" this morning instead of coffee. It is very soothing on my throat.
Not much planned today. Daycare this morning. A quick trip to the bank and grocery store this afternoon and then work on the table cloth repair for the store this afternoon.
Hope you all have a healthy day!

Morning all,
Must be something going around cuz I have it too. I stayed home from school today. Hope to get it taken care of by tomorrow. Today I want to finish folding the laundry I didn't get to yesterday. I need to build a fire but can't muster up the energy to get kindling.
Think I'll make some peanut butter toat for breakfast. Have a good day everyone.

~work on a bit of decluttering

A big
for Bob! What a guy!
Rhonda - I'm jealous! I wish we could take our dogs on the beach here. It's a $500 fine per dog!
Chriss - Wasn't it you that posted a week or so ago that you were reading a Debbie Macomber book? I kept thinking I had heard that name and couldn't figure out where and then I finally remembered that I had read her book, The Christmas Basket, a year or so ago! I think I'll have to see what else my library sytem has by her.
I'm trying really hard to not be in such a down mood today. Finances have me down. I slashed some of our bills a while back and was so excited about the savings. Other bills (4 of them so far!) have gone up though (rate increases we can do nothing about) so there went my savings and then some. Dh also hasn't been getting much overtime at work and they rehired one of the guys that was let go after the hurricanes (good for him and his family, bad for us) so we're not even making ends meet anymore.
We do have money set aside specifically for our remodeling and I do not want to touch it. The house has to be remodeled - no way around it. It wasn't kept up like it should have been, quality products weren't used in it from the start, and there are some dangers in it so it all has to be fixed. Add on top of that something that dh and I feel has been placed on our hearts to do in a few months (it's a secret for now) and I am feeling hugely overwhelmed right now.
Ds and I have to return some library materials in a bit and stop by the bank and post office. I need to continue on with my inventory and decluttering and want to take some time to start looking at what homeschool materials I'll need for ds next year.
Have a great day everyone!

Goodmorning everyone!

Sorry I was AWOL over the weekend. DH sent the boys and I on a surprise trip to Montana on Thursday morning and we just got back late last night.
Chris and Josh started Driver's Ed this morning and Jaysn drove them over and picked them up after class. I got 2 loads of laundry done while they were gone and have another load in the dryer and one in the washer. It's a bit too cold to hang things out on the line today so we will have to make due with the dryer.
Busy day around here...the boys have tons of schoolwork to do today since they took Thursday and Friday off. They have a test to finish for their CWV class that is due tomorrow, an outline of a 12 minute speech to do, logic and all the rest of their normal schoolwork from here at home. The twins also have their Driver's Ed stuff to complete before tomorrow morning. I have to work this afternoon and evening so I'm trying to get as much done around here as possible earlier today. I need to throw out a bunch of junk (mostly papers and old mail) that accumulated over last week, bake some bread, make something for dinner, unpack from our trip and start cleaning out my dresser drawers. How many t-shirts does one person need????
I also plan on taking a walk today since the sun is out and it's simply gorgeous!
You all have a blessed day!

Can only post quick, Quick, QUICK!
I haven't had a chance to read all of you, but know that I am with you in spirt!
We have a major deadline at work and I am taking a half hour for my lunch instead of an hour. I used that already to go home to get my lunch (I forgot it this morning). So I now have to get back to work...bummer!
I wish you all the best day!
