Thumbs up Down on the Homestead - March 6 - 12th

Good morning everyone. Its been a long couple of weeks but I sat and listened to a wonderful sermon this morning and for me, this is the day to rejoice and be glad in it.

We had an absolutely wonderful day yesterday visiting with friends and making new friends. We met a wonderful little 10 year old who has a brain tumor, but her smile fills the room and she is a delight to know. She put into perspective a whole lot of new things for me and I'm so happy to call her my new "little" friend.

    Today on my agenda is:

~to literally rejoice that its a new day
    ~to bake bread
~wash a couple loads of laundry
~work on finishing the pj's I've been making
    ~quilt
    ~do a bit of reading
~clean the post office later tonight

    Have a wonderful day everyone.

Guess what, I'm sewing today! I'm getting boring in my old age, all I do is sew. I enjoy it though so that's the main thing. Today I'll make a patchwork cushion with a stitchery centre and I'll try to figure out how to make a quilt for my son. My DIL taught me to applique yesterday, who'd have known it would be so easy. I also want to make a sewing caddy that incorporates one of my designs. I'll do that this afternoon.

Sewing aside, I'll bake some bread today and clean out the chicken coop. I also want to fertilise some of my bushes so they stay strong during winter. I'll make soup for dinner which we'll have with hot bread and a dessert of some kind.

    Enjoy your sunday, everyone.

    Good afternoon!

I'm in for a quick couple of minutes to have some water and a snack and then I'm back outside. I have spent the last couple of hours watering the garden and outside plants and loading up the wheelbarrow full of tree trimmings and hauling them to the road for pickup. I'd like to get all of them out of the way so I can mow really well, but I think I'm going to need the small chainsaw the trim some of the stuff up better to be able to lift it and dh can't help me with that right now (he's busy staining one of the storage units he built for the utility/laundry room). I'm going to finish hauling what I can and mow around the rest I suppose. Dh also finally got a countertop for the utility/laundry room this afternoon and got it cut. He still has to attach it into place and put the end caps on though.

Dh just came and interrupted me so I have no idea now what else I was going to say.

    Have a great day everyone!

We were posting at the same time, Rhonda. You could pop over to my house for some bday cake for dessert if you'd like. There's plenty!

Good morning! Lots to do today and not enough time in the day I fear! We need to do ds's school lesson and then I have few errands to run. I also need to get my vehicle cleaned out (yes, it's a catch-all) so dh can take it later today to have the oil changed and a tune up. I ended up doing some more trimming along the fence line yesterday so I have a huge pile of palm fronds and tree limbs to haul to the road if the weather cooperates. It's not looking too great outside right now - very dreary. I haven't checked the forecast so I don't know if we're supposed to be getting rain or not. I also need to start making some preparations for our upcoming trip and one of the dogs yakked on one of the dog beds so there's an unplanned load of to do as well.

    Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone. Busy day here too.

I need to get the laundry finished and hung up and do some major cleaning in our m/bedroom.

I also need to finish reading a book I have to have read for an important meeting tonight.

I'll probably be gone for most of the day.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good morning ladies. I slept in this morning (a real sign of cooler, darker mornings) and didn't wake until almost 5am.

oohh, birthday cake! Kim, I'll be having that virtual cake later today. There's nothing better than a cup of tea, a piece of cake and a chin wag with a friend. Thanks for the invitation.

More sewing today. I didn't do the cushion yesterday, I did a bag instead, so I'll get to the cushion today. I also need to tidy my fabrics and craft materials that are strewn over the spare room floor at the moment.

I also have to go to the chemist and confront him about incorrect instructions on Dh's medication. I'm very angry about it.

Like CJ, I'll also be cleaning up the bedroom.

I hope your day is more exciting than mine.

Well today, I open curtains for natural sunlight and warmth. I sweep kitchen floors/washed, vaccum rugs did dishes, wash off counters, knitting, sprayed flea spray on cat. I did some tie work on my unfinished quilt that I have been working on forever. I took a nap rest my fast beating heart. I have a heart problem and need naps sometimes.

    Good evening friends!

I'm so happy this week is going better then last. Last week was a bad one for dh and we had to make another emergency visit. This week he is doing so much better. We hoping he can return to work next week.

Today I had to drive dh to a bunch of appointments so I didn't get much done around the house. I did make a couple zucchini loaves. Tomorrow I need to do laundry, bake bread, bake a chocolate cake, clean the bathrooms, vacuum, pay bills, and do a bit of shopping. In the evening some friends are coming over for coffee and chocolate cake to celebrate her birthday.

I was asked to work another election on Wednesday; I really enjoy this type of work. I'll be travelling by 7:30 in the morning and won't be back in town till around 11pm. It will be a very long day but the money is good and I'll be travelling and working with a friend so it will be enjoyable.

Well I must try get to get to bed earlier tonight as I haven't been sleeping well and I'm really tired.

    Good night

Rhonda - I would be very upset too with the chemist making that kind of an error. Thankfully you caught it.

Well, everyone must be really busy as this is one very quiet thread today!

Tina - glad to hear your dh is doing better this week. Hopefully he will continue to improve.

It is bitterly cold here today and our snowbanks are considerably higher thanks to the snowstorm yesterday. We have more snow in the forecast for the weekend too.

My car wouldn't start this afternoon. Fortunately my class was cancelled (no one registered). DH left my car running for more than 15 minutes this morning while he was cleaning the driveway, after I had told him I was really low on gas. He thinks that there must have been moisture in the tank and that it froze Normally, I wouldn't care but I needed to go to the store to pick up some feminine products which I kind of needed. So now he will have to pick them up for me on his way home

Got caught up on some laundry and cleaning this afternoon. The kids have been abusing my kitchen while I've been sick. I think they will be getting some private lessons on how to keep the kitchen healthy as well as clean

I'm still coughing and congested so I can't sing and it is driving me crazy. I didn't realize how much it has become part of my daily routine to sit at the piano or with my practice CD's. I hope I am well enough to go to choir practice on Thursday.

Hope everyone else gets a chance to check in later! Have a blessed evening.

Good evening! This thread sure has been quiet today, everyone must be very busy.

Chriss - Sorry to hear about your car troubles and I sure hope you start feeling better soon

It sure has been a busy day down on this little homestead. Some friends came over this evening to celebrate one of their birthdays. We had a fun time visiting.

Tomorrow I'm out of town working so I'll catch up on all your lives on Thursday.

    Good night!

Whew its been a crazy week and were only at the beginning of the week.

Yesterday we spent most of the day travelling first to the library and then to the city. I really am beginning to not like travelling, even just a little ways. I'll be so glad once we have our own town library, sometime within the next year. Woo hoo!!

Today I changed all the bedding, got the bread dough started and am doing some more decluttering. I also want to get a wall hanging quilted and do a few more blocks for dgs's quilt.

Tonight I need to clean the post office and then we will finish watching Ann of Green Gables. Love that show and we got the complete set from the library. Its been fun to watch again with the family.

    Have a great day everyone.

Rhonda - I saw your other thread about confronting the chemist. You handled it way better than I would have! Glad to hear he owned up to his mistake!!!

for you Chriss and a for you Tina!

I have been online way too much today. With our trip out of state coming up, I have been checking the grocery ads for there to see what's on sale since we'll be buying our own food while there (no one eats organics where we'll be). I've also been checking the weather forecast and it's not looking good. It looks like we're going to be cold plus rain is forecasted. A trip I don't even want to go on and bleak weather to boot. I've packed a few things and a few groceries to take. We also hope to take a tour of a 150 acre organic farm near where we'll be so I have emailed them to confirm a day (they already said back in Jan. that we could come). Dh has lots of questions for them. LOL

It's a dreary day here as well. Our forecast yesterday was for 80% chance of rain - instead it turned out to be beautiful and sunny. Today was forecasted to be beautiful and instead it's pouring rain. LOL They were off just a bit on that one!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Good morning!

I have a few errands today and I'm meeting my friend at our former church (the one from a year ago) to look through rummage sale stuff. She still goes to church there and is in charge of the sale. It's Sat., but since I'll be gone she's letting me come shop today. It sounds like they have an awful lot of stuff though and it's just all crammed into a storage building so I don't have high hopes of finding much since it'll be hard for me to look through (plus I'll be having to keep an eye on ds at the same time - ack!). I need to do some more packing today. Dh never did pick out any cold weather clothes for himself last night like I asked him to so I'll guess he'll end up with what I pick. LOL

    Have a great day everyone!
