Want hanging plants. Can I start them by seed in the basket?
I want hanging baskets this year for my front porch, but don't want to pay the price for them at the plant farm. Can I start seeds in a hanging basket or do I have to start them in the trays? Thanks

Uuuummm, I think it would be best to start them in trays. Something that I do as well is use the plants that I have to make starts out of a piece of plant (like with wandering jew you can start it by putting it directly into the dirt or root in water first). If you have friends that grow lots of plants you could get starts there. Also we save our plants from year to year by putting them in our pump house. It never freezes in there and we just water them about every 4 weeks during the winter. Saves us gobs of money. Good luck on your hanging baskets.
I love hanging plants as well.
