Down on the Homestead - March 20th thru March 26th
Good afternoon! We've been to Sunday School and came home and have been working ever since. Dh I think finished staining a shelving unit he built and is waiting for it to dry. We've been working outside hauling yard debris to the road and he's been trimming palm trees (giving them a good scalping!). He's gone now to buy a newspaper because ours never got delivered today even after a string of promises that it would. Our service has been horrible lately - turns out there is no regular carrier for our route. I am planning on cancelling the subscription tomorrow and dh will have to buy just a few papers a week. He's not happy about it because he enjoys reading the paper, but I am tired of paying for a service that's not being provided in a timely manner.
The middle dog needs to be shaved today as well. That was in the plans, but that was before dh started on the palm trees so I don't know if it will actually happen.
Have a great day everyone!

Afternoon everyone. Its been such a relaxing day. My 2 daughters and myself went to church this morning. It was a great service and it felt so good being there.
After church I picked up a few groceries, took my youngest dd out for lunch and headed home.
I don't have much planned for this afternoon except a nice hot bath and a good book to read.
Tonight I need to clean the post office and just relax with dh and the kids.
Have a great day everyone.

good morning homesteaders.
I've got a very busy day ahead but if I do it all it will save me other trips out later in the week.
We forgot my step-son's birthday
it was last monday, so I have to go buy him a gift. I also need a little sewing table so I'm going to the thrift store to look for one. I have to get some things for our store for DH and I have to drop off some eggs and a pie dish for my DS who lives over near the beach. While I'm out I'll do my grocery shopping and there's a big sale on at the craft store so I'll drop in there and pick up some embroidery threads. When I come home I'll be sewing.
enjoy your evening, ladies.

Good afternoon everyone.

It is such a beautiful day here. We took the boys fishing again. It was so much fun to just sit back and relax without having anything to worry about. I think we might make this a habit.
While sitting out at the lake fishing, I ended up sunburned.
I wasn't thinking that I would get burned, but I did. I guess it is time to pull out some aloe vera.
I plan on trying to finish up a book I am reading and just sitting back and relaxing some more. Spring break ends for us tomorrow. We all head back to school/work. We have a four day week ahead and then a four day weekend starting Fri-Mon. for Easter weekend. After that short vacation, we will not have another day off of school until May 31st! Then that will start summer!! I can't believe how fast the school year is going by.
DH is BBQ'ing and the boys are helping. I just finished giving them all haircuts while we were outside. It sure beats cleaning it up inside.
I hope you all have a great day! Enjoy!~*Michelle*~

Good afternoon homesteaders

We are digging out from a huge dump of snow. Just what I wanted to do on the first day of spring.
Oh well, on a positive note, it looks very pretty outside
Last week was very trying and left me exhausted. I'm praying for a better week with lots of rest.
Dd is out of town at NCO camp for 5 days. She will be back very late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
Today I baked bread, made pudding for lunches, baked cookies, and did a load of laundry. This afternoon and evening I am relaxing and enjoying a good book. Boy am I ever enjoying some down time.
Hope you all have a great and relaxing night!~ Tina ~

A little cool and windy here, but otherwise a lovely day. Today I:
- planted 9 large tomato plants from the best nursery in town - Brandywine, Black Prince, Roma, San Marzano, Sweet 100, Champion, Celebrity, and San Diego
- planted 2 green tomatillo plants from same
- planted a large Black Zucchini and a cute Ronde de Nice squash, both vigorous and lovely plants
- (BTW, I trade veterinary services to the nursery's cats for store credit, teeheehee)
- baked homemade chicken pot pie, DBF loved it!
- fixed a lovely green salad and brewed fresh iced tea to go with
- refilled Aladdin mantle lamps with kerosene.....they work great for evening light in my office (computer by lamplight) and give off just enough heat for me to avoid turning on the central heat these cold evenings
- always open blinds during the day for light, goes without saying in future
- returned library book "Miserly Moms"; reading library book "Financial Peace Revisited"

So far today I have done little! Dd and I took a two hour nap. Then we took turns taking baths.
Made a big pot of chili for dinner and lunches during the week.
Making a list of everything to pack for trip to Florida, leaving next Sun. for 10 days.
It rained here all day, so we didn't do anything with the yard. Needs a lot of cleaning up, but it is supposed to snow tonight, so it will probably have to wait till we get back from vacation.
That is all for now.

Good Morning Homesteaders!
It was nice to see so many post to this thread yesterday. Course now I feel bad that I didn't get to it
We had a beautiful first day of spring here yesterday. The sun was shining and it was warm enough to go out with just a light jacket. The snow will melt pretty quickly at this rate. After church yesterday, we had a nice family lunch and then DH and I went on a long walk. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching car racing on TV.
Today it is back to regular schedule. March break is over so I am up early as are the kids. Also back to child minding today.
I need to bath the dogs some time this week in preparation for their "spring shearing"
This afternoon I am going to bake some banana bread and work in my office for a while. I didn't get nearly enough done last week. I also need to plan out which seeds I will start indoors this year. Since we often can't plant outside until the end of May I have discovered it is better to wait until the last week of March to plant indoors. I really need to work on some cold frames!
Off to drag the kids out of bed. Have a blessed day all!

Good morning everyone. Not much happening here today because I'm on the road again from about 2 this afternoon until 10:30 tonight. I'll be so glad once I don't have to do all this travelling.
I was up late last night reading a book so I'm a bit tired today. That'll teach me to get to bed at a half decent hour.
Once I'm home tonight, I have to clean the post office.
Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Yesterday I had a wonderful day. I was able to finish all of the laundry...Michelle the cleaning schedule is starting to work!
I worked on my quilt and it's is coming along, but now I am a week behind schedule, so I will need to bump up my pace. Deadlines...
But the nice thing about Mondays is, I don't cook or do any chores when I get home from work....I just get to sew!
I hope you are all having a great day!

Good morning homesteaders.
It's another perfect day here in paradise.
We have this weird bird that's visitied our backyard a few times, it's there again now. I have no clue what it is and should look at my bird book but I'd prefer to type in here that I don't know what it is.
It's green-grey and looks like a cross between a parrot and a hawk - it's got a large parrot body with a hawk beak. It's scaring all the other birds, even the willy-wagtails have taken off.
I did everything I wanted to do yesterday so I'm on target for sewing all day today. Tomorrow I have a sewing day with DIL and I want to take what I'm wortking on now so I can sew it into a cushion. I've already done a load of washing, have bread on the rise, pottered around in the greenhouse, watered the front garden and collected the eggs. Today will be a good day.
I hope you enjoy your day.

Good afternoon all,
It has been a busy day! We still have school Mon. & Tue. then off for the week. I have been frantically working on my crafts as my first show aproaches in April. Keep warm fuzzies in your minds for me that I do well.
I am trying to warm up. It is a little on the chilly side here. Michael built a fire and I am fixing dinner. Chinese tonight! Pepper steak over rice.
Have a nice evening everyone!

Michele, glad to hear the cleaning schedule is beginning to work!! I think I am going to sit down sometime this week and work on something I think will work. Nothing to major at first.
Today was the first day back to work/school after spring break. Most of the kids were all worn out today. As I watched them come into the building, they just staggered. You can tell they didn't get to bed on time during spring break.
I came home to toss a load of laundry in the wash, unload the dishwasher, cook dinner, load the dishwasher, feed the pets and help with homework. I went to the highschool for my evening walk and came home to take my shower and get ready for bed. It is still early, but I am ready. I need to go toss the load of laundry in the dryer....I am cheating tonight.
DH took off work today to go to the dr. They think he has another kidney stone. He usually gets one every 4-6 months, but usually has no trouble passing them. This one isn't moving.
In 1999, he had the worst time. He had one that put him the hospital and they had to do 2 surgeries on him!! He goes back Wed. for more testing to make sure that is what they are seeing.
I hope you all have a great evening.~*Michelle*~

Marcia, I just love the photos you posted, your DD looks really sweet.
You don't look anything like I'd imagined you. It's funny how you build mental images of people. I had you with light brown long hair and very fair skin. I love the pic with your bags and purses. Can you tell us more about your show?
Michelle, I hope your DH is able to pass that kidney stone. My friend Diane had one last year that really knocked her around. Please give your DH my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
