Down on the homestead - March 27 - April 2nd
Happy Easter everyone. The kids are still sleeping here but has soon as they get up they'll be on a egg hunt. They didn't think they were getting any eggs this year so it should be a fun surprise for them.
We had planned on going to church but I'm still fighting a bad cold so we will be staying home. A real disappointment to me because I love Easter Sunday services.
I'll probably spend most of the day in bed. I need to get rid of this cold. I don't have to clean the post office tonight as tomorrow is a holiday so I can just relax for the day.
Have a wonderful Easter Sunday.

GM CJ and all to follow! Happy Easter!
~ sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly CJ.
Here's to you getting over this cold for good! Michael has been fighting it for a couple week as well.
Today we are going to spend the day as a family. We went to a party last night and the women there were going on and on about the things I was wearing. They were all things that I sell. So, I have renewed energy to work on those today.
I was going to do laundry but it is supossed to be like 70* tomorrow and I'd really like to hang it on the line so I'll wait til then.
For our special Easter dinner tonight we are grilling steaks. We so rarely have good steak so it was a treat.
I hope everyone has a blessed Easter.

Happy Easter!
We went to Sunday School and then came home and ds hunted eggs. He also took a spin around the driveway (we have a big driveway) in his new jeep.
We now have gotten our cooking underway and are hoping to hit the beach later this afternoon if the rains stay away. We got a lot (ok, dh got a lot) of work done in the garden yesterday. We have it all entirely fenced now. Yay! I was looking at it this morning and thinking how wonderful it is that we moved last May because the size area we're using for gardening is as big as a typical backyard in a neighborhood here.
We still have plenty more to do - get weed guard down, get the herb area prepped, and get areas prepped for the 3 beds that need to be moved. Dh is so much faster with the shovel than me. He can do in 10 minutes what it takes me about 4 hours to do! I wish he'd just go and get it all done. LOL
We did get more rain yesterday. Ugh! Our pond is about to overflow and the dock is close to being under water.
Have a wonderful day!

I forgot to mention that it's 90* here today! We had to turn the a/c on!!!! I was hoping we could hold out on that for another 2 to 3 weeks. Oh well.

Good morning homesteaders.
I hope to garden this morning. My gardening yesterday was a complete disaster. I waited for DH to leave for work, I closed up our front gates, let the dogs out, got out all my gardening equipment, then the phone rang. It was DH. He forgot to take the memory stick to work.
It's a little portable hard drive, about 3 inches long, that you can wear around your neck. We transfer data back and forth to the store with it. So I had to pack everything up, put the dogs in the back yard, open the gates and drive to the store with the blasted memory stick. I couldn't be bothered starting again so I cleaned up my spare/sewing room instead. Today I WILL garden, bake bread and sew.
I like hearing it's hot over there, Kim. It means that the cool weather here isn't going away soon.
CJ, I hope you're feeling better soon.
Marcia, I hope you're fired up with ambition. Where do you sell your things?
to all who follow.

Good afternoon all and Happy Easter. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday.
Cj, sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I hope you are better soon.
We are not doing anything here today. DH did go to his parents for a while but my hip is hurting so I bowed out and decided to stay home. I have not gotten anything done here today, I slept in and then took a nap in early afternoon so I have had a very unproductive day. I plan to wash a load of my scrubs for work later and I think that is going to be the extent of my housework for the day.
Have a great week everyone.

Hi Kathy, it's good to have you posting in homesteading.
I hope your hip feels better soon. I don't think sleeping and relaxing is unproductive. It adds to your well being and helps you renew your body. Take care, Kathy.

Happy Easter all!!
Kim, hope you get to enjoy the beach today!
Kathy, nice to have you posting here.
Marcia, I think I will head on down to your place for dinner
Rhonda, I'd love to help you out with the gardening after the steak at Marcia's
We are still under snow although it is melting quickly and mud season is upon us. Second day in a row I've had to bath muddy dogs!
I went to church this morning and enjoyed a lovely service in a packed church. Then Andrea and Josh and I drove out to my parents for lunch and a nice visit. I had planned on roasting a chicken when I got back but it was still frozen solid despite being in the fridge all day. Plus I ended up doing the muddy dog routine and before I knew it, it was too late to do the chicken any way. DH is bringing home KFC
Tonight is knitting in front of the tv with DH. Extreme Makeover Home Edition, House Doctor and then there is a new series premiering tonight...Grey's Anatomy.
Have a lovely evening!!

Good evening to all!
Happy Easter!
CJ, I hope you get well soon.
Kathy, take care of yourself and that hip!
I have spent most of the day just relaxing. I haven't done much of anything except relax. I even went and took a long, hot bubble bath. I love hot water. I haven't really felt good either, but nothing serious.
We had an indoor egg hunt for Dakota because it was so cold outside. MIL brought some ham over she had cooked and she also brought me the hambone. She was going to toss it out and she knows how I am.
I could use it in beans or soups.
DH has been working overtime. He has also been working on the third shift this week as they were without a supervisor and asked him to go to 3rd to run the shift. He should start back to days Tuesday. He has to go in tonight.
We are off tomorrow....no work or school! YEAH!! I guess I will worry about cleaning and laundry tomorrow. I am going to finish resting today.
I hope you have a great evening!~*Michelle*~

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a very happy Easter!
We had a really nice Easter. We had a lazy morning then I went with DH to gather some of his tools that were left at a job site from last week. It was so beautiful outdoors. It was so nice just to be outside taking a drive in the warm sunshine. After we got home, DH grilled the pork loin and made mashed potatoes, while I prepared the asparagus and rolls for dinner. We had two friends over in the evening for dessert and a movie. It was very nice.
The quilt is coming along and it looks like my first deadline to myself will not be enough time to finish. Bummer! So I will have to dip in the extra two weeks time to finish it up. Thankfully I set goals. I managed to take some pictures this past weekend and will be taking more this Saturday. All of this extra working at home as really encouraged me to think of new business ideas. I have been doing a lot of reading before bed on preparing myself for putting some of these ideas into play. I hope to start some new things once this quilt is finished and delivered.
On the Denver front, DH has decided that he will be going out to start the job on June 1st. His last day of work here will be at the end of April. We have decided that it's better that DH go out alone for the first three month(s) trial period, while I stay here. This will give him a chance to really figure out if he likes the new position and the area. I will be here, in our apartment, with our kitties and it will be good because if DH ends up not liking it we can still hold on to our cheap apartment and my good job. It will also give him a chance to find an apartment before I get there. It's a good option for us. So we have officially told everyone that DH is taking the Denver job.
I hope you all have a great Monday!

~ Michele, How exciting! A move across country. That was one of the biggest helpers in geting me to look at what I really needed. LOL You re-evaluate everything when truck space is at a premium.
GM Homesteaders!
It looks like it is going to be a BEAUTIFUL day. I have the pillows hanging on the line now. All the laundry is soon to follow.
This is the last day before we go back to school and since we were slugs through the whole break, we will be busting our bums to get things done.
I worked on things for the craft shows last night. I got 3 belts done and 2 more bracelets. I'd like to get a few more belts done today. I'd also like to work on a few purses.
It is supossed to be over 60* here today and it needs to be at least 60* to polyurathane them.
I'd also like to walk the dogs. It has been so rainy that I didn't get to do that at all this break.
Michael also wants his hair cut. So I guess I'll be doing that as well. Somewhere in there I'd like to run to town to tan.
Dinner tonight will be a roast potatoes and onions. Be well everyone.
Marcia

Sounds like a good plan, Michele!
Marcia - I've been trying to check out the purse you donated for the auction baskets. What design/theme does it have on it?
Today was errand day. Our trip threw off my shopping plus I wanted to take advantage of some sales that are ending. Ds was very mischevious everywhere we went and I'm sitting here trying to destress and let the steam finish coming out of my ears. He is supposed to be cleaning his room and we'll do school in a bit.
We had more rain this morning - ugh! - and it really cooled the temp down so I need to take advantage of that and make bunches of muffins to stick in the freezer today since it's supposed to warm back up tomorrow.

Good morning ladies.
I'm doing supermarket shopping this morning - I'll be there when the doors open (8am) and be home an hour later.
Then I'll be sewing most of the day and taking part in this morning's chat.
Michele, that's an excellent idea for you to stay while your DH makes the first steps towards your big move.
Marcia, I hope you get everything done that needs doing. When are your craft shows?
Michelle, sounds like you had a lovely relaxing Easter break.
Kim, I hope you got a chance to destress after your trip out.
Enjoy your evening, everyone.

Good evening!!!
I'm glad I could finally get back in here. I've done all that has been suggested to me, but to no avail!!! I don't know what's going on. So, I just keep periodically checking and here I am!! lol
Today was very busy for me. I vacuumed, dusted, mopped floors, windexed mirrors & tvs, "deep" cleaned my livingroom, made brownies, scooped the cat box, mailed some movies back, ummm, I don't remember what else! lol I was going nonstop all day until 3!! lol I washed my sheets & did 2 loads of laundry.
Breakfast was oatmeal and banana bread
Dinner was a beef roast, broccoli rice au gratin, old fashioned buttermilk bread and a salad.
It has been pouring rain since I woke up this morning. Actually, it was freezing rain first thing & the kids had a 2 hour delay. Then it switched to rain & hasn't stopped. I could swim in the puddles out in my yard!! lol
I hope you all had a great Easter. We went to my sister's house and dinner was delicious.
Have a great night!
