    Default Ornery CATS!

My beloved cats (lest you think I don't appreciate them!) have been very naughty and have been taking little (or not so little) bites out of my seedlings in my starter trays AND trampling those they don't dine on. Fortunately they have left the tomatoes alone, but seemed to really enjoy the Love in a Mist seedlings.

I know I know I'm supposed to have a little pot of grass for them to munch on. And this weekend I will get a pot started.

I'm trying to figure a way to corral my starter trays so they can't get to them -- maybe DH will have an idea or two (short of shooing the cats outside). The trays are in just about the only place we can put them. Our basement is pretty cold but I may have to resort to moving them down there with a grow light.

Just a rant -- its totally a bummer to see what they have done.

When I had kitties, they did this, too.

We put a shelf pretty high in the Kitchen window. We attached it with brackets to the wall outside of the window & put an extra bracket for support in the middle of our window. They open side-to-side. Anyway, they got the sun & it was too high for naughty kitties to jump to, unless they had help.

Then, after the seedlings were done, I liked the shelf there, so I painted it to match my kitchen.

Also, I had to re-vamp the curtains to cafe' curtains so that the shelf didn't look wierd.

If you want, pm me & I can e-mail you a picture. I'm not good at describing things.

Great description, Jamee -- I can envision it very well! I've certainly got to do something drastic. I'll see if your solution will work for me this weekend.

The younger kitty (about 5 months) has discovered she can jump up on pretty high things -- she even jumps on top of dd's bookcase which is about 6' tall. Scamp.
