Question Do you have any old fashioned homesteading items in your home?

And if so what are they? (butter churn, creamer, etc - that type of things)

    I have:

    ~treadle sewing machine
    ~old fashioned canning strainer
~old fashioned jar lifter we found in the basement
    ~very old clothes rack
    ~old cookstove

    What about you?

    Ummm let me think.....

We have a butter churn, treadle sewing machine, several stone crocks, lots of tools from days long past, some plows and other large farm machinery (displayed, not used) and I'm sure there is more but I'm drawing a blank.

Nope, not a thing in our place.

My sister has a really old house and when they were doing work on it (well more like under it) she found all kinds of treasures!

I have an iron that belonged to my grandmother. It is really iron and my mom remembers heating it up on the woodstove when she was a kid so that she could help my grandmother with the ironing.

My mom grew up mostly living on a small homestead without electricity and only a wood cookstove for heat. She was in highschool when they got electricity and central heating.

We have several of those irons as well and are currently using them for bookends. Whenever I lift them to clean, I'm always thankful that I don't have to actually use them to iron with.

I have an old iron and metal trivet for it, my dgranny's antique pressure canner, coffee grinder, 2 old stone crocks,
some wagon wheels, a couple of old farming implements that we use in the garden for decor, an old cookstove that sits on our patio and is used for bbq buffet space, my dgranny's wooden rolling pin, I think there are a few more but I can't think of them right now.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

Me too Pat! I have two of them that I use for book ends...they are really heavy aren't they? I think instead of lifting weights at the gym, I should substitute ironing my fabric with these babies!

Oh I wish I could have seen her treasures! This is one of my favorite activities!!!

In our house we have: Treadle sewing machine, butter churn, old milk bottles, blue canning jars, large blue lard tin, coffee mill, rug beaters, crocks, old mantle clock my great grandparents bought to "have in their kitchen", wooden ladles, old carbon steel forks -- the kind with wooden handles and 3 tines, flour sifter, a hoosier cabinet.

I LOVE this stuff -- and if it is something from the family so much the better! Its wonderful fun to read about everyone's collections.

This is too funny, I knew there was printing on the washing machine, but never actually read it. This is what it says:

    WARNING

This washer can only be used by the holder of a family right. The purchase of which is subject to the terms and conditions of the original contract of sale from the undersigned ?????? wherein. It is agreed that a family right shall not be sold for less than $3.50. Patented Aug. 10, 1909, No. 930,733, Domestic Utilites Manufacturing Co., Los Angeles, Cal.

I remember using this in the bathtub when mom's washer broke. Hard work wringing out jeans, definitely a 2 person job!

Here is what the underside looks like:
