    Default Morel Mushrooms

I know its not exactly like we grow these in our garden, but its mushroom season here! We found 4 small morels in our yard last night. And I noticed a guy walking the railroad tracks the other morning when I headed into town to take the kids to school and to go to work. I'm pretty sure he was mushroom hunting.

I'm terrible at spotting them any place but our yard -- but I'll make a stab at hunting them this weekend. Its going to be warmer the next few days so the little buggers will pop up, hopefully!

Ah the joys of country life -- where else could you find a delicacy growing in your yard?!?

mmmmmm mushrooms. Lucky you, Jean! When we lived in Germany we went mushroom hunting in the forest. We didn't recognise all the various types either but we'd take our basket to DH's mum to check and we ate what she oked. Lucky she liked me.

    Enjoy your morels.

For some reason thinking of hunting mushrooms in the forest in Germany conjures up visions of finding fantastic and delicious things! Were they, Rhonda? What fun! Yes, it was very lucky your MIL liked you LOL!

We found some delicious yellow buttery mushrooms. I don't know the name of them but they were very nice.

Actually my DH used to take me to the forest just ourside Hamburg because I was really missing the solitude of Australia. Here, if you like, you can go into the outback and drive for days without seeing anyone. If you go into a forest here you won't see anyone else. I really missed that. However, we usually found that even in the forest there, we'd see many other people wandering about, just like we were, looking for mushrooms.

Sounds like a wonderfully understanding guy -- and a keeper!
