Revising my Garden Plan - starting over (kinda)
Ok, maybe I just don't have the time or attention span to devote to seeds. My pepper seeds briefly poked up before drying out and dying, the basil would wilt, come back, wilt, come back, and finally wilted its last wilt. The only seeds that I planted that haven't died yet are the tomatoes - I transplanted them into plastic cups (about 8" tall, 3" across) and have 7 cups, only one is about dead. I'm trying to get a total of 4 plants to put into a big pot on my balcony. I think maybe starting things from seed was over-ambitious for my skill level/time availability this year?
My new garden plan:
1. Tomatoes (started from seed)
2. Blueberry bush (ordered as a live plant, due to arrive in 3 weeks)
3. Strawberries (ordered as live plants, due to arrive in 3 weeks)
When the plants come in to the local garden center, I will buy:
1. Green Peppers
2. Squash
3. 3 different herbs - probably basil, oregano, and garlic chives. But I will probably just see what strikes my fancy.
I moved three of my 4 houseplants outside onto the deck with weekend - the other looks a little sad and needs to be trimmed back (its a Christmas Cactus) so I will trim it and keep it inside a little longer. I also need to cut back the Amaryllis and see if I can keep the bulb and get it to flower next year.
How's everyone else garden plans coming along? Am I the only one who killed lots of things and needed to make a major overhaul in my planning?Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06) and Oliver Andrew (5/25/12)

I planted some shrubs last spring and so far some look dead to me. lol I have to try and find the receipts and I'm taking them back.
(they had a guarantee)
I planted a ton of seeds last yr and gave two flats of seedlings to my neighbor. I got ahead of myself. I thought I'd have room for them, but got too busy yard clearing and really didn't have space to plant, so gave them away before I killed them.
I'll probably plant up some more this yr because I have a ton of seed packets I want to use up.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I'm planting out two zucchini plants this morning and transplanting the parsley that DH put in on the weekend - he put them too far apart. I like to cram in as much as I can, he likes the wide open spaces
. I'm also checking out the potatoes we planted last week, DH is sure they won't grow - he doesn't like the variety I bought and I think he wants to buy new ones.
The only other thing I need to do today is to cut back the herbs - pineapple sage, oregano and chili, so they have a new spurt of growth.
Life's good.

So far, I have only had one thing that didn't grow. I think they were old. Everything else is still growing. I hope it continues this way. I don't want to lose anything......not yet anyway.

Sara, I've planted many seeds that either have not come up or have done the wilt and die thing. But I'm ending up with a respectable number of plants. I have 7 tomatoes -- 3 Italian Heirloom and 4 Stupice -- both new to me varieties.
I planted asparagus a few weeks ago and it has not appeared yet. Also planted strawberries at the same time and they have not done anything either. I guess I put them out too early?
Out in my garden the onions and peas are up and doing well, and the spinach beets and lettuce are too.
