Thumbs up Down on the Homestead - April 24 - 30th

Good morning everyone. We have cold temps again today with the promise of snow and cold temps all week. UGH, I wanted to start work in my garden. Not a chance!!

Today I've already been at the post office, giving the floors their second wax. Now I'm home until they dry and then over to the po again so that I can finish it.

Once I'm finished that, I'm going to try to get a couple blocks done today along with working on my afghan.

    Tonight I'll read.

    Have a super Sunday everyone.

Good morning CJ and all to follow

Well, it's snowing like crazy here, we now have at least 10 inches...this is all from just yesterday afternoon. Church was cancelled as the roads are terrible. So much for our early spring

Doug has to leave in the truck soon and of course, I'm worried about him driving in this....he is such a good driver and I shouldn't worry but you know...

The boys had a good time at their hockey banquet last night, lots of good food. Kody's team received a plaque for winning the Provincial Championships, they did a great job!

This afternoon I plan on baking and putting some muffins and cookies in the freezer (if they make it that far ) and curling up on the couch reading from my Reader's Digest/Back to Basics book about vegetables and fruit.

Have a great day on your homesteads ladies.

It is a beautiful day here (sorry to all those with snow and bad weather still ) We have the sun shining, the birds are singing and all the wildflowers are in full bloom.

Today I have some laundry to do and I am going to get my kitchen and bathrooms mopped. Other than that I am just going to enjoy the day. DH and I may take a drive out to the lake and enjoy the day the views.

    Have a wonderful day friends.

We went to church and Sunday School this morning and ended up transferring our membership to the church. There are still not things I like 100% about the church (mainly the type music), but the sense of church family is great and that's what I want and that's where we're supposed to be until we're shown something else.

I've been working in the garden and am taking a bit of a break before I head back out. Dh has been painting the bathroom and I have no idea what else he'll do today (he rattled off a long list, but he's currently sitting down watching the Braves game!).

    Have a great day!

    Good morning homesteaders.

It's a public holiday here for Anzac Day. I'll be gardening this morning and sewing this afternoon.

Kim, I like carrot cake any way it comes. I put cream cheese frosting on the one I made for Casey but DH doesn't like frosting so when I make one for us, I generally don't put frosting on. The one thing I do love in my carrot cake is walnuts. I MUST have walnuts.

Hi Kathy, it's good to have you posting here.

CJ and Heather, I hope you enjoy your Sunday.

Hello to all you come later.

    Good afternoon ladies.

We have been busy as usual. Dakota's baseball team has been playing in a tournament this weekend. We have been running back and forth for it. They are in the winner's bracket. They haven't lost any of their games so far. Today they are playing for the championship.

Rick and Richard got his car fixed. Now he can drive it again. I don't have to drive him to school. AND the part to fix it was free! It was the heater hose and when Rick went to get some new heater hose, the guy just cut a piece and said if that's all you need don't worry about it.

Dakota went to my school with me to help me decorate it for tomorrow's birthday luncheon. I am so glad I only have to do that once a year. It can be expensive. I have Richard designing a birthday sign for me.

Our garden is doing good so far. I am still waiting for produce to grow. I know it is still early for that.

I hope you all have a great day!

    Good afternoon homesteaders!

CJ & Heather, sorry about your cold weather and snow. Hope it warms up quickly so you can get back to your gardens.

    Rhonda, happy Anzac Day!

We've been having some beautiful weather; it's so warm and sunny. I've been enjoying sitting outside on the deck these past few days. Dh and I are having fun sipping our iced teas and dreaming about some future plans.

    Have a wonderful restful day!

    Good Morning Everyone!

It's so nice reading all of your posts. I wish I had time to reply to all of them at the moment.

It rained all weekend I quilted and still have more to go. It's just the last few steps that need to get done. A friend stopped by on Saturday. She really needed the company and it was so nice to see her.

I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning friends! Happy Birthday CJ!!

The snow has stopped....thank goodness....each day this week is to warm up a bit so the snow will melt quickly.

I'm spending the whole day at home until tonight when Delaney goes to gymnastics and I'll be picking Kody up from rugby then as well.

We are having leftover chicken and noodles for lunch and I've got chili in the crockpot and will make biscuits later to go with it for supper.

I'm going through the kids clothes AGAIN....and will donate to the Salvation Army. Delaney is growing like a weed and alot of her jeans aren't fitting anymore. I've got laundry going, I'm doing all our sheets today....love getting into bed on freshly laundered sheets Our front entrance way needs some attention...decluttering and putting shoes and boots where they belong! Then I'll wash the linoleum floor and vacumn the mats.

    Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Rhonda - I will do cake without frosting because I don't like to use powdered sugar and every carrot cake recipe I find calls for it in the frosting. I love walnuts as well, but ds complains about pecans and walnuts in things. LOL

Dh finally got the countertop in the utility room into its permanent place this weekend so I have been busying myself today with getting things moved out there into the cabinets. The cabinets don't have doors on them yet (LOL), but oh well. I moved our encyclopedia set out there and got a quilting shelf made and a scrapbooking shelf made. I think I am going to move the quilting shelf though. I'll probably re-do it all 500 times before I decide where I want everything. I am just excited at the thought of getting things out of the house! Now if dh would just finish the 2 smaller shelving units that go in there, I could really get some stuff moved out of the house!

Ds and I are about to return some things to the library and I need to weed at least one garden bed and pick basil from the garden for our pizza tonight.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning everyone!

It's another hot sunny day and I'm loving it. I'm going to try find some time to sit out in the sun today.

This morning I drove dh to the hospital for more tests. It's been a rough day so far. His health is not too bad today but his mood swings, from the head injury from the car accident, are getting hard to handle some days. I had to worn the dks to stay away from him today Oh well, this too will pass.

When we got home I've cleaned the bathroom, did two loads of laundry, dusted, cleaned the kitchen and now I need to get something in the crockpot for supper.

After lunch dh and I are going to part two of the diabetic clinic for controlling dh blood sugars. Part one was very interesting so I'm looking forward to today's class. We'll be back around supper time.

Tonight I hope to sit outside, relax and read.

Hope you all have a great day!

    Happy Birthday CJ!!!

Afternoon everyone. I get to spend the day however I want so I've been having fun on the net. I love when new things happen and being a part of it.

Our weather continues to be cool. I had to turn the furnace on last night but only very low. It was just too cool not to have it on and I didn't want the kids getting sick. Its suppose to remain cool all week then I'll send it on to Chriss and Heather. I always feel bad it gets to them a few days later.

Dh has been a busy beaver today. He changed the oil in both the lawn mower and the tiller and has now tilled up the garden. We are expanding our gardening areas and I now have another garden plot 15 x 10. I'll mostly plant potatoes in there this year to work the soil up and use the other garden plot for the rest of the veggies. The kids each will have a small spot too this year.

I really should get some laundry done but I think I'll hold off until tomorrow.

Later this afternoon I have to go into the city, pick up a few groceries and go to group session. Only 2 more left. I'm glad but I am going to miss the wonderful group that are there. Hopefully we can maybe get something started on our own.

Once I'm back from the city, I have to clean the post office.

    Have a super day.

    Good morning everyone.

Happy birthday, CJ. I hope your day is full of happiness.

I've got a very busy day today with laundry, bathrooms to clean and grocery shopping. Hopefully I'll also have enough time to plant out a couple of tray of seedlings. This afternoon I hope to draw and sew.

Tina, it's good to see you back here. I hope you DH's moods change for the better soon.

Michele, good luck with your quilting. I have a lovely mental picture of you quilting as you talk to your friend.

Dawn, I hope the weather holds off while your roof is replaced.

Heather, I love freshly laundered sheets too. It's one of life's simple pleasures.

Kim, it's great to see you're finally getting your cupboards and countertops.

    Enjoy today.

    Good afternoon ladies!

Happy Birthday CJ!! May all your wishes come true.

Today, I called in sick to work. I have a really bad toothache. I think it is abcessed. I called my dentist and he can't see me until tomorrow! I have slept on and off today because I didn't get much sleep last night. It is a tooth that already has a cap on it. So I am assuming after the infection is out that they will do a root canal. Come on tomorrow!!!

I had to go to DS#2's school this morning for his ARD meeting. We discussed what he will be taking in high school next year and his IEP's. I think he will be ok.

This afternoon I have to take DS#1 to the dr. for a med check-up.

Then tonight, DH has spanish class and DS#2 has a baseball game. I will take him to the game and DH will meet us there after class.

I think we are just having sandwiches tonight because I don't feel like cooking. I don't feel like eating either....lol!

Hope you all have a great day!
