Down on the Homestead - May 1st - 6th
Good morning everyone. Can you believe its already May 1st and here we are with snow falling. Its so depressing to wake up everymorning and see snow comng down and cold temps. UGH!!
This morning I have to get bread started, fold some clothes and then the day is mine until tonight when I have to clean the post office.
Once the work is done, I plan on quilting the afternoon away.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

I can't believe you have snow! Didn't it do this last year as well?
It's rained some here this morning and I think more is headed this way. Ds and I went to Sunday School and I need to get busy around the house now.
Dh is trying to get everything done in the bathroom before the tile is done tomorrow and Tuesday. I wanted to wring his neck last night! We had discussed purchasing a box to go in the shower wall that would be an area to hold shampoo bottles, etc. and he told me he'd already been to the place here that sells them and ordered the box. Well, he fibbed a little. Ugh! MEN! He went yesterday to buy the box and they didn't have any! Turns out all he did previously was talk to a salesperson about it and the guy told dh they were in stock - dh did not go ahead and buy one or order one. Instead of calling me and telling me about this dilemma, he took it upon himself (bad, bad dh!) to buy this thing that mounts into the corner and juts out into the shower. I hate it and it doesn't even match our tile! I wanted to hit him over the head with it! I told him it was hideous and I refused to have it in the shower. He called his co-worker (it's his side company that's doing the tile) and the guy told him how to build one himself so that's what he did. He's at Lowe's right now getting some more things he needed. I have a feeling this is going to be a long day for him. (He brought it on himself by procrastinating though!).
Anyway, the cat is doing much better. Yay!
Have a great day!

Good morning or afternoon.
I wish the snow would stop falling in your area CJ. I know that has to be depressing. Enjoy your quilting.
Kim, I am glad you cat is better!
Today DH had to go into work. They called him yesterday and asked him to come in.
I like spending our weekends together.
Chris has a scrimmage game (baseball) this afternoon. I guess while we are in town I will run to WM and get a new watch battery since mine died.
Also I need to pick up something for the bugs in the garden. I noticed they are eating on my plants!
Anyone have any suggestions?
The boys are mowing the yard today. YEAH! They didn't even have to be told. They just volunteered.
I have some laundry to do today. I need to get on that.
Have a great Sunday.~*Michelle*~

Good morning homesteaders!
It's monday morning here and yet anther public holiday! I'm sure we didn't have this many holidays when I was younger.
Today is Labour Day.
It's labour day for me too as I have a ton of things to do, most of them related to sewing. I was inspired by my visit from Cathy yesterday so I'll be happily sewing most of the day. Before I get stuck into that though, I have to do one load of laundry, make a apple buttermilk cake and repot two plants.
Cathy's sewing class saw quite a few of our stitcheries last week and just loved them. Cathy is making a quilt from some of hers - the quilt is being taught to an intermediate quilting class. It really looks brilliant, she does lovely work and everything MUST be perfect. I'm working on a sampler at the moment but I'm starting some xmas decoration postcards today - after I draw them.
CJ, poo @ your weather! I hope it warms up enough for your vegetable garden soon.
Kim, what is it with men? Do they think we won't notice? My DH is like that too. He's finally worked out after all these years that when I ask for something to be done a certain way, I don't want HIS VERSION of that - I want it how I want it.
Michelle, I left some organic bug spray recipes for you in Lawn and Garden. Hope it helps.
Dawn, I'm pleased you had a nice visit with your mum and dad.
to all who follow.

Hi ladies!
Happy Labour Day Rhonda!
This morning I was up early, had a great breakfast in the quiet (everyone was still sleeping)....juice done in my juicer, scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast with strawberry jam and some fresh strawberries. I was so full!
Delaney and I went to church this morning and I taught Sunday School. I love the interest and enthusiasm of the girls....so cute! We got home and I made wraps for lunch and then Doug left for work. Still not used to him leaving on Sunday yet.
Delaney and I took a walk up town, back to the church, I forgot something there in the morning and figured it was such a nice day we'd walk. It was sunny but the breeze was cool. We stopped at the park and Delaney played for awhile there.
When we got home I put supper on and played here for a bit, talked to my Mom on the phone and finished up some laundry.
Tonight I am finishing up another block quilt once Delaney goes to bed.

Good evening all!
Boy I have missed posting here.
Today I had a ton of stuff to do and got most of it done. I still have to do the dinner dishes. Spaghetti and h/m bread with salad. MMMM
It is such a bummer to have to go back to the real world tomorrow.
We have a field trip to the state Capitol and we will ride the train there. It sounds like it will be fun. We are winding down the year. Only 12 school days left! I am so looking forward to summer. Michael and Alex and I are all doing summer school. Michael and I are working in the lunch room. It is a little extra money and will help to pay off some bills.
Have a nice eveining everyone!

Good evening

Today has been wonderfully relaxing. I didn't go to church this morning as I slept poorly last night so I slept in. Dh and I went for a walk, I made a nice big lunch for the family, and did a couple loads of laundry. Other then that I've spent the day outside on the deck drinking iced tea and looking through old magazine and some library books. It feels so good to be lazy for the day

Good Morning Ladies!
CJ- We live in a cold cliamte too...threat of frost until June!
. I hope your snow is melted today! I bake something too when the house gets chilly. That's how we heat the apartment in Spring and Fall!
Kim- I've been thinking of your kitty, I hope he's feeling better!
Michelle- I'm glad your tooth is feeling better!
Rhonda- I hope you had an excellent time with your sewing projects!
Tina- Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day!
Marcia- It's so good to see you again, i have missed your posts!
Heather- Will you be teaching Sunday school regularly? It sound like fun teaching the girls at your church.
Dawn- I hope your schedule gets back on track for you soon!
Hi Chriss!
I wish I had time to post over the weekend. I did lots of cleaning! More cleaning than sewing. DH ended up coming home on Friday night, so he we hung out all weekend. That was nice. The van is excellent! We believe that we will be able to fit everything we own into it! DH is so happy with it! My girlfriends were busy and couldn't come over on Saturday anyhow, so it all worked itself out.
The boarders are on the quilt, the binding is all cut. Right now I'm just taking out some stitches that show on the front. I made the mistake of sewing 1/4" around all my blocks. They are paper pieced and I thought if I sewed around the blocks, I could use it as a guide when I put the blocks together...big mistake, as where the stitching shows on the front, I have to take out...Oh well, live and learn!
Our weather has been changing between sun and rain all weekend. It's constantly changing so I now have to have lots of warm clothing with me at all times. Yesterday it was freezing on our walk!
I hope you all are having a great day!

WooHoo on the van, Michele!
The tile guy can't come until Wednesday now. He ran into a problem on another job. It seems like this happens to us every time we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel on a project.
Dh also thinks our water softener system is messing up (yet again - seems to do this every 3 months) so someone is supposed to come today to check it but they couldn't tell dh a time they could be here. Don't you hate that???
I need to just stay busy in the house and keep finding things to move out to the utility room to store.
Have a wonderful day!

Morning everyone. Its another cool day here although quite sunny. I'm hoping it starts to warm up this week. This is crazy.
I have to head into the city in a few minutes. Will get gas while I'm there along with a few groceries. I should be back right before after lunch, around 1:00 p.m. or so.
Tonight I have group session, my last one. It looks like I'm going to have to miss it because dh is working out of town today and probably won't be back on time for me to go. Even if I'm half an hour late though I'll go.
Late tonight I have to clean the post office and then probably read once I'm finished that.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.

Hi everyone
Michele~yes, I teach Sunday School regularly, have for many years. I usually teach the older children and it's great but it's nice to teach the wee ones again. I've taught on and off since I was 16 years old.
I had some bad news my last check up for cancer. It has come back in my throat. Today was my first radiation in this series of treatments. Last week I got all the blood work done and necessary "prodding". I need 6 (so 5 more) treatments and will be done them by the end of next week. I am thankful that once again it was caught in testing and hasn't had time to develop any more than it has.
This afternoon I'm just taking it easy and doing some reading. Dylan is at his schoolworkand may have to work at the mill tonight and tonight Delaney has gymnastics. Not sure if I'll take her or ask a neighbour who takes her daughter to take Delaney. Kody has rugby games all day today and drivers ed. tonight.
Happy day on your homesteads. (((HUGS)))
