Talking Big News at Dana's Farm!

I just had to let all of you know the big news at Dana's Farm! Remember the nine "Jerry's Ducks"? Well, two of them had laid eggs and one little nest has hatched. One of the smallest ducks has nine...yes nine..ducklings. They all look somewhat different. Some are all black, others have some yellow on their breasts. Dana and Mike are keeping them in a stall in the barn right now so the hawks won't get them. When you go to visit them in the barn they all rush to their mom to hide. They are so tiny and fluffy. We just can't wait for the second group to hatch.

To answer your question...Dana now has 17 ducks! One of the original "Jerry's Ducks" turned up missing and we assume a hawk took it. There are also many ducks that come to Dana's front yard to swim, in the little pool but, they are the neighbor's pets. I haven't gotten to count the eggs the other momma duck is sitting on. I will let you know when they hatch and how many there are.

    How precious!!!

My mom has a duck that also just had some ducklings..but it's so sad hearing about what happens to some of the ones that were born 'not so healthy'.

Oh that momma duck she had actually refused to sit on the batch of eggs before the ones that just hatched it was really sad

I can't wait to be able to have the property to be able to at least have some ducks once in my life that I raise on my own...I would love my daughter to see them hatch and grow

How cute! I'm sure that will be a lot fun, watching them grow. I love to see a momma duck and ducklings crossing the road or something like that......how sweet .

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
