Default My little prayer garden is coming along

Last year I started working on a little spot right off our deck, beneath the dining room windows. I wanted a spot with bird feeders, a little fountain, some flowering perennials and a bench.

Well, I got the spot marked out, and mulch put down. I also put out mosaic stepping stones from the deck to the yard, a gazing ball, my shepherd's hook with feeders.

I planted cannas around the feeders, and hydrangea under the dining room window (it came back up this year - YAY!).

I bought a little fountain and an arbor bench at Big Lots. Well, I got the fountain together - and although cheap, it works well enough for now to give me a nice peaceful sound.

The bench was another matter. I had a devil of a time putting to together. ONce together, DH had to tighten everything up. Well, because of the arbor top it kept blowing over! LOL!

Finally the top supports broke (another example of you get what you pay for...) It has been lying back there looking forlorn all winter.

Last week, DH took the top off, fixed the bottom, made arms for the bench and stained it! Now I have a bench in my prayer-garden-in-progress.

I planted 3 peonies, and moved my gazing ball next to the bench.

It needs lots more work, but I'll try to take a picture tomorrow. It will be a nice place to come and have a cup of coffee and read and pray.

It sounds like it will develop into a wonderful serene garden, Cheryl. I'd love to see the photos too.
