Garlic question
I planted garlic 2 falls ago. I was pregnant at the time and thought I would have time to get into the garden the next summer to dig them up- HAH!! nobody told me I was going to have a baby with GER disease, tracheomalacia, laryngomalacia, and stridor who cried unless she was hld because of the pain.
But I digress...
So now there are all these little garlic heads in the ground, and because they have been left in the ground so long, each clove developed into a head, and each clove in THOSE heads is now developing. Which would be fine, except they are all VERY close together.
They leaves are already quite big- many 1.5 feet or more.
So my question is, would you just leave them until fall and dig them up and see what happens, or risk killing them by disturbing them now to see if they will transplant? I am just worried that since they are root plants, they won't come back if I disturb them now.

Kimber, I would leave them alone. I've planted clumps of onions side by side with not much space at all and as they grew, they just moved sideways to gain more space.
You are going to have a great garlic harvest when you finally pull them out. Luckily garlic stores very well.

Okay, that is what I was going to do, but I just wanted another opinion. Later, I will have to take a picture of it to show just how very close they are. In the meantime, I am loving (very judiciously) using the greens.
