    Default Murder so "fowl"

My husband keeps calling the death of our neighbor's rooster Murder so Fowl..... LOL

I was wakened yesterday morning pretty early by some frantic clucking that ended very suddenly. And in my sleepy state I thought I heard some cat like sounds when the clucking stopped. Our bed is right next to the window, in fact my pillow often slips almost into the open window, so I was able to look out right away. It was light enough outside to see clearly, but there was no sign of what was causing all the noise.

Then later in the day when I mowed the yard I found the feathers of one of our neighbor's roosters. There was no sign of the body, just feathers. The sole remaining rooster was lurking under some cedar trees at the edge of our yard.

As for the culprit in the Fowl Murder, I can't believe that a regular cat would have been successful in taking a rooster, but maybe so. And if not, could it have been a bobcat? Or did my sleepy brain only imagine that "cat noises" were part of the altercation?

So now our neighborhood is much quieter. Two roosters lost in the last month or so.

It could have been a bobcat. If there were a couple of wild cats around they may have done it too.

At least you don't have to listen to those 2 roosters anymore.

Jean, we have feral cats here quite capable of killing any rooster. When cats live in the bush for a few generations, they grow much bigger. Freaky, isn't it?

DH says he has seen a big grey cat around our place --- so maybe its the culprit. Yes, freaky!

As for the crowing, we really didn't mind hearing them. Its going to be quiet now!
