I have three rhubarb plants- one I just divided off this year, so that is out of the picture. I have two other ones. One has a ton of long stalks, but they are very skinny (1/2 inch) and the other one has long, very thick stalks, but there are only 5 of them, so I don't dare pick them. They are right next to each other.

What is the deal? How can I get thicker stalks?
