Down on the Homestead - July 25 - 30th
Good morning everyone. I can't believe no one started this thread yesterday. I've decided to take weekends off the net so I wasn't here to start it. Are all the homesteaders away?
I had a wonderful weekend. We spent lots of family time together and also did lots of reading. I was also able to get into my sewing room and do some quilting. I started another project and I'm loving how its turning out. I really should have gotten some other projects done. However, I have a library book that has to go back soon so I needed to get this project at least started before the book has to go back.
Today is laundry day I think, thats if the weather holds out. Right now its looking like we could get rain.
I also want to do some repairs on a quilt I made years ago and hopefully work more on the new project as well.
Tonight its over to the post office and then home to read.
Have a great Mon. everyone.

Good morning!
CJ, good to hear that you had a great weekend and spent lots of family time together. I hope your weather holds off until you are done with your laundry.
DH is gone for the week. It is just me and the boys at home. We have lots of appointments scheduled this week so we should stay busy. It will make the week go by faster. Dakota has a dentist appointment today to fill a cavity.
I guess it could be worse.
Tomorrow I will be taking our daschund in to have her spayed FINALLY! It hasn't been fun with her being in heat the last few weeks. I will be glad to know it will be ok to let her out to potty without having to sit there every minute to wait on her. I can just open the door and let her run out to do her business and then she can walk back in when she is done.
I am working on getting together a better planning (work/chore) schedule for my daily routines. Especially since school will be starting in a few weeks which means I will be returning to work once again for another school year. I just want to be able to stay on track with everything and not feel rushed or stressed.
I hope everyone has a great Monday.~*Michelle*~

We are having tax free shopping days so we were in Vero Beach yesterday at the outlet mall, mall, Ross, and Target. All the walking and heat wore me out so I feel asleep as soon as we got home.
It's hot and I'm tired so the rest of today is going to be spent doing nothing of importance. LOL

Good afternoon Homesteaders,
I have had a busy week and half here between teaching, working in the wool store and keeping up with my own business and family here at home.
William is away at his grandparents still which is a big help. We had a bit of a reprieve from the really hot humid weather over the weekend and I was actually able to turn off the a/c for three days. I even got to spend some time outside
I worked this morning at the store and now I am supposed to be working here at home but I thought I would take a few minutes to pop in and say hello first. Hope everyone is well.

CJ it sounds like your quilting is really moving along. I envy your motivation!
Michele hope the doggy is doing well. Dont you feel sorry for them once the procedure is done. They always kind of mope around for a day or so! LOL
Kim and Chriss, I get tired just thinking about all you 2 are doing!
Worked 10 hours today, made zucchini bread using garden produce. Now off to make dinner, clean up the house and curl up with a video or a book. It is extremely hot and humid today so no sense in trying to do anything outside! Have a great evening homesteaders!!

Zucchini bread - YUM!
I need to check the local stations here to make sure the space shuttle is still launching this morning. We'll be out in the backyard to watch it go up.
I started reading The Master Quilter last night and that was a bad thing. LOL I'm deeply drawn into it already and have already been reading this morning. I hate to put it down. I'm sure I'll ignore a lot of what I need to do today so I can read.
I do need to make up a batch of powdered laundry detergent though and get a bit of laundry done. Ds was hinting yesterday that he sure would like some oat muffins so I really need to make some for him today even though I dread doing so in this heat. If I can sit still long enough (ok, ok, if I can stop reading long enough!) I may try to start putting our homeschool folders together (I do one for each subject and a general journal).
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone. Kim thats a great book. I read it in one day as well. For my reading, I'm on book #6 of the Left Behind Series. Dh is hooked too and we are both up late into the night reading these books. I keep saying to him, want to know who is still alive (I'm one book ahead of him).
I quilted all day yesterday (until supper). I finished a wall hanging, just have to put a few finishing touches to it and then I'll post a picture. It was a fun project to make and seeing as yesterday was nice and cool, I was able to sew all day upstairs.
While I was quilting, I also did 3 loads of laundry. I have to fold it today, if I can get away from the book. Kim, I'll blame it on you. If Kim can do it, so can I.
Tomorrow dd and I are going to a quilting show at the Peace Gardens. Her and I will take the whole day - just a mom and daughter thing. I can't wait.
Tonight, its over to the po to clean and then home to play Yahtzee with the kids and read.
Have a great Tues. everyone.

Good morning!
We watched the space shuttle launch on CNN today. I am glad it went up without any problems. Lets hope they return in a safe manner as well.
I have lacked motivation lately when it comes to housework. Maybe it is because we are tearing up the floors and redoing them and that takes most of my energy. We still have the hall to paint, but I just wore myself out. I need to pick myself up and just do it!
DH called last night to say the heat has given him a bad headache. They were in the field yesterday for 13 hours doing burning seminars. Can you imagine how hot that was?
Today Chris and I have a chiropractor appointment. We both suffer from migraines and the treatments seems to help. We go at 2:30.
I am also going to get my haircut off today. I want it short due to the heat. My hair is so thick and the heat is unbearable at times. I am not sure how short yet or what style, but I am hoping my hairdresser will give me some ideas. My appt. is at 4:30.
I hope you have a great Tuesday!~*Michelle*~

Good morning!
I need to get some housework and baking done today. My parents should be here anytime from today to Thursday; they just kind of show up.
No appointments today so other then taking dd to work I should be able to stay home and get stuff done. That is if I don't pick up my book and start reading, then nothing will get done. It's your fault CJ
I'm almost finished Sarah's Quilt and I just NEED to find out what's going to happen
Ok, no reading till I vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms, and get the bread going. That should make me hurry up.
Hope you all have a wonderful day

Hello Everyone!
We were gone camping over the weekend. It was a good time.
On friday a very good friend of my DH died from a long battle with lung cancer. We went to his funeral yesterday. That was awful!
DH is having a pretty rough time as Mike was still going through chemo treatments and so he was waiting to see him after he rested from that a bit. He never got to see him and now DH is regretting not having gone to see him sooner. Please, if you can say a prayer for his wife and daughter. DH was going to see them today.
Other than that we are doing well. We are going to see a piece of property next Monday or Tuesday evening after work, in the same town where we tried to buy the last house. DH went to see it on his own last Sunday. He said the property is very nice. It's one acre with a mobile home. We would build on this site, but hope to be able to live in the mobile home while we do it. Paying in cash as we build. The land has a great view of the valley. It already has a well, electric and a septic, which needs a new leach field. (DH seems to think we can do this). The owner wants to sell very badly and there is a possiblility of owner financing! (which would be ideal, as we cannot get conventional financing because DH now owns his own business). I hope this can work for us as we really would like to stay in VT. It would be a miracle if it all worked out!
This weekend DH will be out of town. I hope to continute to work on my sewing room and hang out with a friend. I am starting to get my creative vibes back and am thinking about birthday gifts and Christmas gifts to make.
I hope you are all having a good day!

Happy Birthday Mamaw! You definitely need to enjoy reading on your special day. I say no cleaning aloud on your birthday
Ok, I got a lot more done then I originally planned. Once I got moving I just kept at it. I also finished reading Sarah's Quilt and now I'm reading The Revelation by Beverly Lewis. I think I can still blame CJ, and a few others, if I get nothing else done until I finish the book.

Sure, sure............ blame it all on me! I did finish my book yesterday though and got lots more accomplished as well.
I love that series CJ! It's hard to put the books down, although there was one (I want to say just after the mid-point in the collection - I can't recall which book right now) that was slow for me and I just didn't enjoy it as much. It didn't have the same "feel" as the other books to me. I'm trying to decide if I want to read the new one that's out - The Rising - which I think is about the characters lives before the series.
Ds and I have to return a dvd to the library and I need to stop for milk and eggs on the way home. Other than that I'll be washing ds's new clothes and going through some books that are due back at the library soon.
