Corn Harvest
We picked all of our corn on Sunday and froze it --- got 21 pints stashed away. I thought this was really very good, but then I calculated the actual cost of each pint --- our seed cost us nearly $10.00 and not counting the cost of the energy to pump the water for the plants, or to process the corn to freeze, each pint cost about 48 cents --- which is what a can of corn at WalMart costs. ACK.
I know I know -- my corn is much tastier and has no nasty pesticides on it --- still this calculation helps me understand why some people say it is not a savings to have a garden!~~Jean~~

Jean your corn will have more vitamins and minerals in it as well but I agree....I can't make myself spend the time and money to can and freeze much b/c of the cost and the time involved.
