Down on the Homestead : Aug. 7-13
Good afternoon!
We went to Sunday School this morning and then I came home and paid bills and worked on the finances and dh plopped down on the sofa and watched a movie.
He finally did mow most of the property and says he's saving the rest for me to do when it cools down today.
I think he's about to start working again in ds's room. We were able to get a rug to go under his bed and a closet organizer system yesterday.
I made 4 batches of french toast and most of it will make it into the freezer. I want to get quite a few things made up now to make our mornings easier when we start homeschool again in a couple of weeks. I may make some zucchini bread today as well to freeze. I've also done a couple of loads of laundry.
Looks like we'll be getting another huge thunderstorm this evening as we have practically every evening in August. That's our forecast for the entire month. Ugh!

Good afternoon Kim and all who follow

It has been crazy busy around here but I'm seeing an end to that. My parents left this morning and dd will be leaving tomorrow evening. I can't believe it's finally time for her big trip. Tomorrow she flies (by herself) to Vancouver and Wednesday she flies to Amsterdam. Then off to Paris, St Petersburg and many places in Finland. I am going to miss her so much and worry too. We still have lots to do tomorrow as she's working today.
After tomorrow I'm planning on taking some time to rest. Since dh accident in January our lives have been turned upside down and my simple lifestyle has disappeared. I know I still need to deal with some trails in our lives right now but I NEED TO SLOW DOWN! I'm burning out
But, I know I can turn this around. I will take time for me. Tomorrow night I'm having a long hot (or cool depending on the weather) bath and going to bed early.
I'm also going to straighten up my food storage area and see what's left. We've been eating out of it since January. We're still waiting for the disability company to make its decision. Maybe I'll take some pictures of my food storage and post them.
Have a good evening everyone!~ Tina ~

Hello!
Kim, sounds like a great plan to make things easier in the mornings. I wish I would have done that.
Tina, I hope you are able to take care of you.
It has been a long, miserable day here. I did manage to clip and file all my coupons. The a/c is on the blink and that has made it miserable here.
Texas heat can be unbearable! We had an a/c window unit in the shed and the boys helped me get it out and put it in. Chris did some great cutting on the boards to place in the window. This is just a temporary thing I hope! I will call someone tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully it isn't going to cost an arm and a leg to fix. Needless to say, we may have a sleepless night. I can't sleep when it is hot.
I hope you have a great Sunday!~*Michelle*~

Good evening all. This has been a busy weekend for me. Yesterday I participated in the relay for life, cancer walk. It was tons of fun and also raising money for a good cause. My nephew has cancer, went through 4 operations in the last 18 months so it is kind of personal for me. KWIM?
Today, I slept in very, very late...I think I was tired out from all that walking Saturday. Did a couple loads of wash and went with DH to the lumber yard. Got the items needed to fix the toilet in the basement, repair the duct work for the furnace and fence in a section of patio so DGD does not fall off it and hurt herself. It always amazed me what can be spent in a home improvement/lumber yard! YIKES!!! But at least we will save by doing the work ourselves.
Came on home and cooked dinner on the grill. Grabbed a few more zucchini from the garden and cut a few coupons. Now off to read the paper and grab some more shut eye. Hope you all have a peaceful night.

Sounds like a very exciting trip for your dd, Tina!
Stay cool, Michelle! Hope you are able to get the problem resolved today.
Good for you for participating in the relay walk, Mamaw!
I woke up a little after 6 this morning in a panic because I knew I hadn't heard the sonic booms from the space shuttle coming back for landing (it was due at 4:46am). I was scared something terrible had happened again. I turned on the news and was relieved to see they have just been delayed another day due to bad weather here at about 5000 feet. Now I need to find out what time to expect the booms tomorrow. Ds can't remember any from before since he was so young then so we're hoping it won't scare him this time (they can really give you a fright, especially if you're not expecting them). It will be interesting to see how our youngest dog reacts as well. We fully expect him to start howling. LOL
I didn't get around to making any zucchini bread yesterday so that's on the agenda for today. Dh started installing ds's closet system and I took the opportunity while ds napped to start reorganizing his toys. He'll have lots of storage bins that will slide under his bed (reusing bins we already have). I'd like to work on that more today, but I'm afraid to get too far ahead of dh and then have ds protesting that he can't play with anything. LOL
We're off to the post office, Walgreens, and the library in just a bit. I fell back asleep this morning and ds and I didn't wake up until 9:15! I needed the rest badly though and it was so nice to not have the noise going behind us (usually starts before 7am and there's no sleeping after that).
Have a great day!

Morning girls!
I'll be talking to my friend on our internet phones today. she's 2000kms away, we talk for an hour or so and it's all free! I'll also be vacuuming, cooking and writing.
I need to get out to the front gardens to weed too but I doubt that will be done today ... maybe tomorrow.
Enjoy your day, ladies.

Sounds like you all have been quite busy today!
We are having thunderstorms here and the forecast is for storms all week. We need the rain badly so I wont complain but I wanted to hang laundry out to dry. Had to use the dryer instead since it really had to be done.
Did three loads of wash
Worked 9 hours
Ran to the grocery store and sent off a few refunds.
Hope to dust and run the sweeper after dinner
Need to scrub the shower and toilet in master bath also
Want to actually read the paper tonight too! LOL

Barb, what a wonderful thing to do. The relay for life is a great relay to participate in.
Kim, I had to wake up early too just to see if the space shuttle made it back safely only to hear it was delayed due to the weather. WHEW! I am hoping it all goes well.
Dawn, I hope you were able to finish your all your task so you could get in your garden.
Rhonda, I hope you have a great visit with your friend.
Hello to all who follow.
Today I had to get up early to take Chris to football practice. It was nice in the LR. The window unit sure did help. Thank goodness we had it to use. DH talked to an a/c repairman and told him what was happening and he told us what to do to fix it. We tried, but DH may have to go back in and do some more because it still isn't working right. UGH!!
I went in to work a little today to help decorate and get the room ready. Tomorrow night is open house for the children and their parents. They will be able to come to the rooms and meet their teachers. So everything has to be ready. Tomorrow we go back to sit and listen to someone talk and talk and talk.
I really think their is something more productive to be doing than that.
Dakota has his first football practice tonight. He is really excited. He has never played before with a team, just out in the back with his brothers. He is going to be playing pee-wee football. He got dressed 2 hours early, that is how excited he is.
The weatherman said we may be getting some showers this evening. I wouldn't mind it at all. It would cool everything down.
I hope you have a great Monday.~*Michelle*~

I woke up about 1/2 hour late today. I checked on the freezer in the basement that was defrosting. I pulled out the rest of the ice and tossed it outside to speed up the defrost process. DH has to round up some people to help him load it up. We are going to start taking apart furniture in the next few days. We have his cousin's car trailer to store our big stuff in until we move. Only 10 days till settlement....
I worked 9 1/2 hours today, came home, took DH blood pressure (long story) and made dinner for Courtney and I. Then off to pick up the girls from band practice at 8:00, now I'm on here. Another day long gone....

Good morning everyone. The weather has finally cooled down here (thank goodness). We can finally get outside a bit.
Not much happening right now on our homestead. I've been getting some quilting done and have started dd's quilt I'm making her for Christmas. All in purples which is really stretching me has purple is NOT my color, however it is hers.
I need to do a load of laundry today.
I need to get another batch of Swiss chard froze.
I want to declutter a closet if it stays cool today.
Over to the po to clean tonight.
Hope everyone has a nice Tues.

Another early morning awakening for me in anticipation of the shuttle. Ds was very upset that it didn't land here. We watched it on tv and I explained they couldn't land here because it had been raining. He didn't understand why they couldn't land here instead of CA because it wasn't raining here then. I tried explaining the whole time entry thing, but didn't do a very good job. LOL
I need to hang a load of laundry to dry and make some more freezer breakfasts today (probably more french toast). Other than that I'll just be tackling the ongoing messies in the house.

Hello Everyone!
Been doing okay here, just busy as usual. It's a schorcher this week until Thursday. It's supposed to be hotter today than it was yesterday. I am dreaming of Fall already.
Still trying to push through these months. There are lots of emotional things I'm dealing with (besides my side of the family). The financial situation isn't helping matters. I wish I could just save money more quickly! I hate living paycheck to paycheck. I just wrote the check from my consolidation loan to pay off my visa and closed the account. No more cc for me! Not that I've used it in over a year. I cut that baby up long ago!
I am hoping for a sign of good fortune to help me along this crazy journey I'm going through at the moment. I'm not explaining to much here, but I know you all know what I'm talking about! Life stuff, that is.
I hope you are all doing well. I hope the next time I post I will be in a better mood. I would rather refrain from posting than keep spewing out all of my negative thoughts.
