homesteading without money
This is an interesting story about life as a frugal Alaskan homesteader. It's a good read.

That's a great article Rhonda. I love that magazine and get it via snail mail. Gripey and I both read it cover to cover. There is actually a woman that I went to school with who along with her dh, live just like the family in this article. They live miles and miles away from civilization and make 1 trip per year to "town" for supplies. They love their life and make a trip home about once every other year to visit family. They think their families won't care to "rough it" as much as they do and don't expect them to visit. This couple has no kids and the wife has recently been diagnosed with lupus so they are planning on living her part of the time, to keep connections with her trusted doctor. It is very fascinating, the stories that she tells.

That is so neat! I admire their doing it the way they want to mentality. I am nowhere near doing it their way. To me tho it's not about doing it this person or that persons way, it's doing simply and enjoying what you want. This simplicity thing is custom made for anyone.
Thanks for the link.

so glad you enjoyed the read, Lisa and Darlene. This simple life is so much about attitude and you're right Darlene, it's for everyone.
Whenever I get annoyed with people at our store, I think of people like these who really enjoy the life they live. I've never been able to understand people whose main focus is money. Give me folk like this anyday.

Thank you for sharing this article Rhonda. I admire people who are able to live without all the modern conveniences we are so used to. A good reminder about what we really need to survive.
I haven't read Mother Earth News for a few years now, subcribing to too many magazines was getting expensive. I noticed they have it at our library, might be good to check out for some fall reading.
