the fragrant garden
Now is the best time in the year for fragrance in my garden. Two years ago I planted 8 star jasmines along an ugly grey fence along the driveway. They've now covered the fence and are flowering. It's like a wall of dark green with the tiny white stars covering the green foliage. In the front of them, I've planted agapanthus. It looks stunning but it smells divine. I keep walking along there just to smell the fragrance.
Out in the back yard we have honeysuckle growing along the fences and native frangipani trees in the rainforest along the creek bed. The frangipani fragrance at night is almost overwhelming. I was hit with it when I went out last night when it was almost dark. I walked down there to close the gate to the chicken coop. OMG! what a beautiful scent it has, and it just lingers in the air. When I went to bed last night and opened the windows, I could smell it as I went to sleep. I wish it would last all year but I know the flowers stay for 6 weeks at the most and then disappear for another year.

Divine indeed! Wow, imagine having frangipani scent in the backyard.
I love our honeysuckle --- it is usually at the height of bloom around the first of May here.
I've been wondering how the southern hemisphere gardens are faring in this turn of the seasons.
