Killing Frost
We've had serious frost the last two nights and I'm mourning the loss of my morning glories and giant coreopsis. At least I think it was coreopsis --- it grew over 8 feet tall which I had never never seen before. And I didn't recognize the leaves of the plants, but the flowers sure looked like coreopsis.
Yes I know, I should have kept a record of what was planted!!!
Also lost the tomatoes and green peppers --- is it spring yet?~~Jean~~

I just came in from pulling up all the annuals
I planted 80 tulip bulbs in their place. I also planted 16 german bearded iris.
It was so much easier this year to clean up, I am slowly switching to raised beds. I am anxious to see how the bulbs do as this is the first time I have planted them in a raised bed. I picked the last of the peppers and will chop and freeze for the winter. We have the holidays coming up to keep us busy and before you know it March will be here. Thats when I get garden fever . I cant plant here untill April or May. I can plan though!
I attend the Philadelphia Flower show every year and enjoy that.
Thats usually in early March. I'd better stop now, I can go on and on about planting and spring planning.

Mary --- I usually send for seed catalogs in late December and start planning/drooling then. You are right, the time will fly for the next couple of months and then we can plan the next season!

Jean, your plant sounds like cosmos to me. They can grow very tall and are one of my favorite flowers. Love their lacy foliage.

Thanks Darlene. That's it! The leaves are just very different from other varieties I've grown previously. That'll teach me not to keep better notes on what I plant.
