    Default Pecan Picking......

We bought over 10 acres of land and it has about 8-9 pecan trees on it. We have been picking pecans like crazy. These pecans are good sized too. Hubby has been cleaning around the trees, fertilizing them and trying to keep worms and squirells off them since spring. Well all his hard work paid off. This month we have been picking and giving them away....... next year we will go to the local flea market and sell them. I am really suprised at the quality of them considering this land hasnt been maintained for years. Just thought I would share.

I looooooove pecans! I grew up with gobs of pecan trees around. Nobody ever did a thing for them and they always produced like mad, no problems. Last house we owned had 2 pecan trees (sadly, none here at our new house....yet), we did nothing for them and they produced like mad, no problems. FWIW.

Wow! Wonder if I can get pecans to grow here in the desert... Nope; I'd spend too much in water for them!

That is great. There is really good money to made in selling pecans. Good luck with the tree.

    Oh I love pecans!

How do you keep the squirrels away??

We have filberts and butternuts but the squirrels get most of them .
