Well, I went out and spent some of my birthday money on seeds
and other gardening supplies- seed starter, a little bag of soil, and two new fluorescent lights and a big box of bulbs (for the lights, not the gardens.)
I counted my seed packets last night. I have over 45 different kinds of seeds!
I have 6 types of basil alone!!! Can you tell I LOVE pesto? I plan on starting some right now for indoors. My indoor pot from last year is just starting to die, and I am going to do bush basil in the pot this year. Have some seaweed emulsion to add to the soil, and then I will plant the new guys. Then I am thinking about making one of those medievel herb wheels (outlined with bricks) for my different types of basil, though I may expand it and make it big enough to accomodate some other herbs.
Haven't decided if I am going to buy rosemary seeds this year. I tried them last year (don't ask how or why, but all my seeds from the beginning from the season are likely no good now, though I do have seeds saved from the garden, which aren't included in my above seed count.) I think I will just buy a seedling as they are so slow to grow and I love, love, love rosemary, even more than basil, and it doesn't overwinter well here. If I do get a seedling, I think I will just go ahead and buy two and keep one inside all year, as they don't adjust well.
Here is what I have and am planning on planting (so far- there will be more; these are in order of planting dates
