Exclamation Down on the homestead - Feb. 19 - 25th

Good morning homesteaders. I woke up this morning to dull weather and the promise of snow. I'm hoping because the past few weeks has been very cold.

Today I'm need to bake bread and then I'm quilting for the rest of the day. I might also wash a load of clothes in there considering we need to go into the city early tomorrow morning.

Hope everyone has a nice Sun.

Happy Sunday to you CJ and everyone to follow.
Jack got the fever to make bread and had a loaf of rye baking in the breadmaker and 2 loves white rising by the time I got out of bed, lol.
I'll be doing some housework soon, working the jigsaw puzzle, playing in the Village, watching the first big race of NASCAR and getting a pot roast cooking. Jacks in charge of go with's.

Stay warm or cool depending on where you live, hopeyou enjoy the day.

Good morning! NASCAR RETURNS TODAY!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!

Having SIL and BIL over for the race today so I have to make up lasagna (plus one for the freezer). Also making lemon bars, dip for chips, and nachos. I also need to make gallons of iced tea. This is also SIL b-day (2-24) and Ashlee's birthday with them. So I thought we'd have them over for the race.

Got the fireplace going, it's freezing here. I want the 60 degree weather we had all of January!

Gotta run, my water is boiling. Have a great week.

    GO TONY STEWART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good morning homesteaders.

It is very cold out today. The boys are outside, bundled up, playing ice hockey with their sticks they made when we had ice in December.

I have some cleaning and decluttering to do today. I also need to work on some school work for me as well as help Dakota with a science project.

I also need to teach a Driver's Ed lesson to Chris today.

DH had to go to work. He said the roads were very slippery, but he made it.

    Morning all!
Today we are going to cut wood. It has been freezing, actually well below, here. i have the dishes soaking in the sink and I need to do laundry. Bluck! I got a rotiseree chicken yesterday when I went to Wal*Mart so I think I'll boil that and make soup with the leftovers. That should be good for this blustery day. Off to do dishes Have a great day all.

Pretty cold here in Maine too - yesterday night it felt around 10 below outside.

Today I plan to make lentil soup and some bread. Got a lovely suprise telephone call this morning from my friend in the UK so that was a nice start to the week.

Finding it hard to concentrate this weekend. Had an interview on Friday for a job I really really want. I have been unemployed now for three months and this level of frugalility is getting hard to continue with. Hopefully I will hear something the middle of next week. But, I will spend some time today online checking out other job possibiliites.

Really need to get some washing done today and make a shopping list and meal plan for next week. Too cold to go out walking - the wind almost blew me away as I went out on the deck this morning.

Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday.

    Hi Everybody:-
Freezing here in Canada too, have the fireplace going full blast and have been curled up under a blanket. Not much on my agenda for to-day, could do some laundry but it can wait for to-morrow. Dinner cooked and kitchen cleaned so am just going to have a nice relaxing day and try and learn my way around this site. What is a brownie point.

    Happy Sunday, all!

Today I have been doing laundry, clipping coupons, making cookies with Julia, playing games with Julia, and hanging out with the boys.

I still want to do some more laundry, including putting it away, and tonight, while watching tv with dh, we will be doing a major sock sort.

I'm not sure about dinner yet, but I'll be making something.

Rob went out to do the grocery shopping for me and has been gone for an hour. I sent him wtih coupons and a very intense list. The arrival of Matty means we haven't been shopping in 2 weeks. I also sent him with 2 $50 gift cards that we got from my parents for Christmas. I figured it would be smart to use them w/the long list, especially since I am, officially, now out of work!

This shop should stock us up, with the exception of milk and fruit each week, for awhile.

Marei, a brownie point is something only an admin, supermod or mod can give. It's given for a great post, for being active here at the village, just for fun or for a thread that is really interesting. You never know when you are going to get one. It's really just for fun. The brownie fairy strikes often though.

    Happy Sunday!

We just got home from dh's company picnic! It was great, at a lake with a beach, paddleboats, swimming, fishing, horseshoes, playground, etc... Now, to get ready for the week ahead. All of the laundry is done. I am sitting on the computer reading, and sewing (by hand) homemade femine products.

Also, going to try to stop eating meat, it has been two days, and so far, so good! DH made hamburgers last night, but I didn't have one, I didn't even miss it! I had mushrooms instead!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday! Talk to you later!

    Good evening everyone!

Dd had a friend over and they decided to bake a three layer cake. Dd, 17, has experience baking but her friend does not. Well let me tell you, I had many good chuckles as her friend tried to understand the directions.

    One funny example:

As the friend has one egg in each hand and says "ok, I have the eggs separated, now what?"

I had the hardest time not to laugh; this dear girl really didn't know what that meant. As dd so graciously explained, her friend laughed at herself so hard she fell on the floor.

Little to say, we had a lot of fun and later we all had cake. The cake was very good and the girls were proud of their acomplishment.

I'm so tired now after listening to the two little motor-mouths for the last 5 hours. I really don't get how they can talk soooooo fast. I'm really not complaining; I'd rather this then two young ladies locked in their bedroom who don't speak. I found out a lot about my dd and her friend today

Other then that, not too much has happened around here. I was trying to read but I didn't get to far. Maybe once I'm off the computer I'll try reading again. I'll soon need to drive dd's friend home too.

I'm off to bed early as I need to be up and have dd at work by 6:30.

    Have a great evening
    ~ Tina ~

    OMG Tina! ROFL!

Julie - I went for about 3 years eating no beef or pork so it can be done! I craved ground beef, bacon and sausage once I became pg last year though so I started eating it again, but only organic. I'm still eating it, I think mostly because of habit. It's going to be hard to break again, especially since dh is enjoying it way too much (he also didn't eat it for almost 3 years). I'm trying to at least cut down.

Dh took the grom to get his hair cut this morning. He decided the shaggy look was not for him. LOL He's also been feeling left out since ds2 came along so dh took got him a couple of new pairs of beach shoes and let him pick out a new mouse pad for a new-to-him computer that dh's work gave us and they were nice enough to get a new battery put in my watch. I had my "me" time this afternoon and hit TJMaxx, Walgreens, Marshall's, and Target. I got him a computer game he'd been wanting and got his birthday presents bought. Right now I'm just trying to stay awake since ds2 needs to nurse one more time before he and I go to bed.

    LOL Tina! That is funny!

    Good morning!

I decided to call in today and take the day off. I just don't think I had a very productive weekend and made a list of things I wanted to get done today. DS#3 also stayed home because he doesn't feel well.

I plan on baking bread, doing some simple OAMC and start on my grocery list for the weekend. I also have some cleaning and decluttering I need to do. Sounds like a busy day ahead, but I want to do as much as possible, even if I don't finish it all.

Michelle - I called in sick today also! Great minds think alike!

Actually my FIL is our babysitter and he has been mad at us, because for a reason that we don't know! He drinks alot (at night) (not while babysitting) and we think that he imagined that he had an argument with us. Anyway, I didn't want Eleni to have to stay home with him, so I called in sick. I am coughing, so I didn't really lie.

So, today I will wash our sheets and hang them out, as soon as the fog clears. Then do a little reading, sewing, relaxing...

Hope everyone has a good day.

GM all! Happy President's Day to all from the U.S.A.

Today we are off from school so I will need to do laundry. We cut wood yesterday and I smashed my little finger between 2 blocks of wood. It hurts like the dickens and I'm going to loose that nail for sure. Right now it is a lovely shade of purple. lol

I'd like to get the dogs walked today as it is supossed to be near 40*. Right now however, it is trying to snow.
    Have a great day all!
