Down on the homestead March 6 - 11th
Good morning homesteaders. I can't believe this thread wasn't started yet. Where are all the homesteaders??
I had a wonderful weekend. I went to my batiks quilting class first thing Sat. morning, then headed over to the scrapbooking memoranza for the rest of the day. Two friends and myself then went out for supper. Yesterday I spent making my blocks I had learnt about Sat. and spending a quiet evening reading.
Today I need to:
~head into the city to do some banking
~bake bread when I get home
~wash a couple loads of laundry
~clean the post office.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Mon.

Yesterday was really busy for me. I went to town and got a gallon of milk and a couple of papers. Came home washed dishes, did a load of laundry, and had DS help me stack wood on the porch, inside and made another stack along the front of the porch. Still have about 1/2 cord left to stack.
Have a good day everyone!

I'm an urban homesteader. Yesterday I went to a church potluck to say goodbye to a minister. Then went directly to a library celebrating it's 25th birthday. Then home to crash. Watched a DVD with dh on the first thousand years of Christianity. Interesting, if long. Not much of day for getting things done around the homestead!
Today I need to:
~ finish machine quilting a quilt top
~ sort out what's for supper and prepare it...probably a soup.
~ finish laundry
That's it.

Yesterday was ds1's bday so I wasn't online much. We had pancakes for breakfast (at his request) and went to a park area on the river yesterday afternoon. I managed to escape to the great outdoors for a bit yesterday morning - I worked on my compost tumbler since it was hugely ignored while I was pg and then I mowed for about 40 minutes. It felt so nice to work outdoors - I have really missed it! After we had cake yesterday I had to start tackling the laundry and I still have more to get washed today.

I don't feel like I accomplished much over the weekend, yet I stayed busy. I went yard-saling with mom. I spent $.75 on a craft cd for dsd's computer. She loves crafting so I think she'll like it.
Today I need to:
Sort-out and prepare dinner (probably meatloaf)
do laundry
finish unpacking boxes in bedroom
work on my master's
clean up garden spots

We had a busy weekend here.
My oldest ds's friend was admitted into the hospital on Friday night. He was in pretty bad shape and this really shook up ds. His friend has Steven Johnson Syndrome. I understand he'll be in the hospital for a few days.
Dd was in a first aid competition on Saturday. She was the captain of her team and they won first place. After that was finished dd and ds (as well as other team members) went up to the hospital to visit their instructor. He was so excited for the kids and I was happy the kids shared this with him. He's been in the hospital for two weeks waiting for a flight down to Vancouver for a heart procedure. Later that night we got on call that he was finally flown down. He'll have the procedure done on Tuesday.
Today I'm trying to play catch up with all the housework. So far I've vacuumed, dusted, finished two loads of laundry, made a doctor's appointment, made pudding for lunches, made muffins, finished my menu for the next two weeks, and gotten some paper work together for dh's appointment this afternoon.
Tonight I'm planning on relaxing and reading

Had a busy weekend. Went to my soon to be daughter in laws bridal shower out of town so that was an all day affair and on Sunday was out in the yard all day planting flowers and trying to get things in shape. All in all very productive.

Well, I had my second ultrasound done on my neck/throat. Now I have to take all of my films and go see another specialist next Tues., then to the surgeon. We'll see, they are still just calling it "a large unidentified mass".
Today I worked for 10 hours, not fun at all!
Now I have to do the dishes, a load of laundry, and get ready for bed. Have a nice night.

The weekend around here went pretty well. Saturday I made it to the hospital for a CT scan of the sinus. Doctors are trying to figure out if I have sinus or allergies. Stopped and picked up my makeup, hit the feed store and grocery store and came home. Spent the rest of the day and most of the evening doing some cleaning around here. What a MESS !!!
Sunday DH and I drove to Cleveland to take DGD to see Sesame Street Live, Elmos Paintbook. It was a very cute show and well worth the trip to enjoy DGD. BUT by the time we make it back home, it was after 10 and I was ready to hit the sack!
Today is another long work day and I am still feeling kind of bushed so I think I will just take a warm bath and curl up with a book tonight. I really should continue to clean the sewing room and my office but it can wait. Everyone deserves a lazy night now and then and tonight is mine! LOL
This week I need to empty out my office as much as possible. I am planning to clean the walls over the weekend and perhaps rearrange the furniture. With all the PC lines and hardware everyplace it will take a day just to get it all reconnected!
Well good night all!

Yesterday I took the girls to breakfast at Cracker Barrel compliments of DH limo driving gig on Sat. night..
Then I came home and finished painting the girls bathroom.
Today was work, not enough hours in the day to finish my work, but I'm loving my job at the stress testing lab. Wouldn't trade it for anything right now. It was worth waiting out the time it took for my bully to finally get fired.
Dinner was hot dogs and beans, I'm just relaxing a few before I put Courtney to bed. Then I think I'll have some Chai tea.
Have a great night!

Well I kinda got some of my stuff done yesterday. I got a couple of loads of laundry done, did the dishes. Worked in the yard until almost dark and helped DSD study for her science test.
Today I plan on working late and catching up my grading (nine week report cards due next week). When I get home, I'll cook beans n weenies for dinner and work on my master's (hopefully I'll have time to do it if dsd doesn't have too much studying.

Yesterday was slow. I made a huge batch of turkey stock and turned it into turkey barley soup (okay, so I cleaned out the fridge). I have enough for five meals. We had one last night.
Also made up some red pepper hummus for lunch.
Ended up doing a kitchen clean job.
Rereading "The Complete Tightwad Gazette".
Helped dd#2 prepare for the GED. She's doing great so far.
Finished the laundry.
Watched an hilarious movie called "The Librarian" last night with dh and dd#2. They love to watch movies/TV in the evenings. I have a harder time with it, but it does afford a chance to cuddle with dh...always a big draw in my books!
Dh and I went shopping for groceries and to check lumber prices. He promised our son-in-law a bookcase for a belated Christmas present. Oak plywood is very expensive right now.
I'm sure finding winter tiresome these days. What do y'all do when there's a foot of snow and it's windy outside? I never did work on my quilt yesterday, so I'm off to do it today.

Work again today then I had to drop off my car for service after work. They will work on it tomorrow. I had a coupon for oil change, overall check and rotate the tires for 40 bucks. Thought it was a good deal.
DH and I took Courtney to dinner at Applebee's on the way home. Now I'm settling in to watch "House".

Finished machine quilting my quilt. Made some binding and have it sewed down one side to the quilt. Will hand sew it tomorrow at quilting.
Made a crockpot rice pudding yesterday and snacked on it all evening.
Dh and I walked to the library and back. I checked out some knitting and tatting books.
Read a bunch of library magazines and watched some of a library DVD with dh.
Today I think I'll work on other quilting projects and some cleaning. Have company coming. Also need to go to the bank and the doctor.

Hello all!
Worked today, and tomorrow, but I get Friday off!! YAY! Went to the library after work and picked up some more books. I was supposed to be off today so I could go to Daytona for Bike Week, but we were short at work, so dh went over without me with some of our friends.
I really wanted to go! Oh well! Next year!
The weather is pretty warm out, I planted a few seeds, we'll see how they do. I'll talk to you all later!
