    Default Tree removal?

We have 3 trees on our property that need to be removed as they are wreaking havoc with our roof. The tree guy came out today and gave an estimate of $1000. This seems high to me. Has anyone had trees removed by the professionals that can give me some feedback? Thanks for any answers.

Just last week we had to get some massive pines down.
This required a professional because they were so close to neighbors house. One was about to fall directly onto it, had been uprooted by winds this past winter & leaning severly.

For 5 very large pines we paid $1000. plus tax $80
Worth it too because we are so relieved not to be watching the leaning tree anymore.
The tree cutter had a lift truck & fully insured.
We had him drop them, no clean up. Though he hinted at taking the ltrunks away for free--because it is valuable & he could sell to a mill/
Consider having the trees milled yourself .
    We checked into it cost
.30 a board ft. Portable saw mills exist that will come to your property. Don't just give it away if you can find a use for the wood, it is a resource! Of couse if you are not able to clean it up yourself & that is included in the cost, that seems like a fair price.

I read about a man who had 3 pines cut for $3000, & that was a few years ago.

We are going to build an adition onto our barn someday from the pine.

Being a Do IT Yousrselfer, was kind of hard to part with $$$, but we are very happy it is done & vry quickly.

Good Luck with your project, if it is going to save damage to your house, will be worth It!

Ten years ago, a neighbor had a very large evergreen tree removed (close to both of our houses). I recall that he said it cost $600 or $800.

You can always get another estimate.

That seems like a fair estimate based on what is charged here in the north Texas area.

Very fair for NY too, I think my parents are paying $600 just to have a tree trimmed!

Once we had to have a tree removed and 2 others trimmed. We were new out here but got a name of a fellow that was a volunteer fireman. He and his 3 buddies came one day and did all the work for the wood! My hubby worked along side of them and did clean up of the smaller limbs and I fed them lunch! Cheap!

I think it's pretty decent. Just think of the peace of mind you will have not having them hanging over your house where they really could cost you big bucks.
We had bunches taken down that were threatening the house and just to iffy to do on our own. The guy cut them down & we cleaned up and used the wood to heat our home. We now take down our own trees for firewood and are getting quite good at it,lol.
