The apron I wear was made for me by my daughter's 2nd grade classroom as a thank you gift for helping out during the year. It has Thumbs up for great classroom help written on it, and each of the kids dipped their thumbs in paint and have their thumbprint and name written next to their thumbprint. It is darling. It is the BBQ apron style. I also have one that same style that is white I use when I am baking.
I agree with you homestead mamma the old aprons are the best. I am always looking for them at second hand stores, but I have yet to find one.
Mine isn't an apron, but I put it on after I take dd to school when I come home ready to cook or clean.
I wear the silky (not slinky) type of pajamas by Shadowline. I wear the top as an apron. It has 2 pockets and fits loosely. I don't have to worry about strings, either.

I wear aprons every day at meal times. I get the basic kitchen style ones (think institutional but with color!) and wear them forever. I need some new ones too. I have to have aprons with a "bib" on them since I get stuff all over me. I like the old aprons you find at antique stores, but they don't cover enough of me!
I was just discussing this with my mom and she thinks I'm nuts. growing up my great grandmother always made beautiful aprons, usually lavender flowers or gingam, with pockets and ruffles. She always made me a matching one out of the scraps. I want one like that so bad again!! I actually found one in an estate auction box lot a few weeks ago and bid on the lot just to use it as a pattern. I think because I live in such an old house and do the traditional female chores many times immediately after work in my work clothes, I NEED one! Like I said, mom thinks I'm nuts.
I have a couple. one is old and green. One my mil gave me she got on a tour of Amish country. It is flimsy and black, like a handkercheif so I do not use it much.
One a friend sent me, it is apples (my kitchen is covered with apples) it is long but not long enough.
When I get a sewing machine i plan to make some. Long, as in to shoe tips, with a bib and pockets. Real old fashioned ones!
i have one that hangs in the kitchen i don't ever wear it. I want one of those huge bib ones, that have the pockets, I am sure you know what i am talking about. i think after christmas when i have a little time i might have to see if i can do one.

I love chatting about aprons. I first had a Halloween cool one and bought a green full one at an Amish town. I then found another full one at a yard sale, bought a snowman one for my dd on the clearence after Christmas. She loves hers.
I have a couple that my granny made....I never wear em. Everything I own has a grease stain on it.....well not really but my everyday stuff does
