Question Have you been to a auction sale in the country

I was at our first one this spring and what a hoot to see what people were bidding on. There were some items though, had we had the extra money I would love to have bid on.

Did you purchase anything at the auction and was it over priced?

yes, we have been to auctions! we love them, but don't go that much anymore. now that i'm a sahm, we don't have too much extra money. but they are a lot of fun! you can get a lot of neat old stuff!! but yes, sometimes things are bid on a lot higher than they are worth.
    it is fun though!

We've been to a few auctions and what we bought were great deal.....like a copier for $60...we've used it for 2 yrs. now with no problems. Some things did go for outrageously high prices tho. It was amazing......

I actually went to an estate auction in a small city in North Jersey this week. I went for an antique carousel lion, but got out before the $750 mark. Everything else was going dirt cheap, I picked up some antique pencil signed etchings and signed numbered prints and photos along with a box purse from the 40's, some brass christmas electric candles (new in the box with the original $30 price tags) and a beautiful antique picnic basket, and two copper tea kettles--grand total, with tax and bidders fee-$38.00!! I wish I knew something about books--there were boxes and boxes of books from the 20s-30s going for $5 a box, but I'm not a saver and my storage space is limited so I didn't even bother.

I LOVE auction sales in the country! Especially in the fall. I haven't been to too many but would love to go to more! There are such treasures and each time I have gone to one I have learned so much about furniture, implements, the area, the persons farm etc. They are a great day out! (especially if a bargain is to be found!)

This is one of my favorite sources of entertainment!!!! I have gotten such great buys at auctions. A good friend of mine bought a beautiful and huge Duncun Phyfe (sp?) dining room table for $60! I bought my living room and dining room curtains for $7 total at one of these. They had been custom made and cost hundreds of dollars originally!
