    Default Japenese Beetles-Need Help Quickly

Does anyone know a good way to get rid of Japanese Beetles? I realized a few days ago they were eating the leaves off one of my flowering trees. Since then those bugs have been very busy...they have eaten half or more of the leaves. The tree is literally covered with them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No advice, when we lived in PA we had them all over the place! Never did figure out how to get rid of them. I think that you have to spray for them.

When I was a kid, it was my job to change the bag on a commercial trap for them that my dad had purchased at Wal-Mart. It's this plastic X shaped piece that has the a scented piece that attached to it as bait, and a bag attached below. The trap manufacturer sold special bags that narrowed in the middle, but we found out a bread or newspaper bag with a rubber band lossely in the middle did the same thing. Check out Wal-Mart or a garden store, I'm not sure if its still around.

I second the bag trap. My girlfriend had them really bad and bought a couple of these bag traps and they sure do work. They were full in no time!

My grandmother always hand picked them off and put them in a glass jar with gas and eggshells (I don't know why but thats what she did) She would spend hours trying to save her tree that had berries.
