    Default Full compost bin

We started a compost bin a couple of months ago. And already it is full!! It's one of those big trash bins with a lid (tat would almost fit a person inside), DH drilled some holes in it and rolls it around every now and then. So my question is: how fast does stuff compost? I hate to throw out food when I could just rot it.

I would add some red worms
they will break it down much quicker...
but you'll have to put the can in a cooler/shaded place & have some sort of bedding layered in...grass or leaves

I often start piles in my garden over the summer
either under clippings of grass or leaves...
    add veggie/fuit scraps & worms

    this amends the soil nicely
I have awesome broccolli plants growing where I did this last year.

Another option...let the stuff rot in the can for a few weeks in
a hot spot...turn it onto your garden then cover with wet newspaper &
clippings of grass or shredded leaves. the worms will naturally be drawn up into the pile & help process it!

good luck, it's worth it to finda way to turn your scraps into compost!
