Homemade fertilizer
This simple fertilizer will provide general nutrition for most nonflowering houseplants.
To make 1 dose, that can be used monthly
* 1 tablespoon Epsom salts
* 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
* ½ teaspoon saltpeter
* ¼ teaspoon household ammonia
* 8 pints/4.5 liters warm water
Combine the Epsom salts, bicarbonate of soda, saltpeter and ammonia in a small bowl. In a bucket, dissolve the mixture in the warm water. Use once a month in the place of your regular watering. For an acid-loving plant, add 4 drops white vinegar.
