Moss
Anyone else love mosses? Bet many don't really give them a second thought. I just think they are beautiful, one of those unexpected pleasures that just make me smile when I come upon them. So many shapes & textures, so soft and beautiful. I've loved them since I was a kid, daydreaming of elves, gnomes, fairies & talking woodland creatures. Just a wonderland.

Here are a couple of sites that can tell you more about them.

I love ALL things outside, love the green moss with the little red stamens, love ladybugs, pretty weeds, heck I even check out the shape/form and pattern on burrs. Moss does remind me of when I was a kid and would lay under the tulip tree in our back yard and read.

Thanks, now you have me smiling with GOOD memories

I do love them, but don't have any in my yard. I want to get some for the pathways I plan on building around the oak trees. They should do well there.

I think they are wonderful, but I've never seen any in the desert.

I really like reindeer moss. (although technically it's a lichen) lol
I have to admit that I do not like the moss growing here on our street. It grows on the trees and part of roof and well...I could do without it. If it's on the base of a tree, sheet moss type, well I think it's lovely, but looking all green and moldy, I can't say I like.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I like moss. Mom used to send me some from her house each year to grow in my yard. It never winters over very well, but come spring, she'd send me a little more. I guess that won't happen any more, but when it was, i felt very much like i have pieces of home growing just special for me.

I really like the look of moss growing between the stones on a shaded path. It's so nice on bare feet.
If you find a place where moss grows well you can transplant some different kinds to create a moss garden of sorts.
