Default Do you have fruit trees/fruit bushes?

I would love to grow my own little orchard someday.. It;s a dream of mine that I hope comes true..

    Do you make your jam?
How do you preserve your surplus?
Do you have a root cellar?

I would love to hear any stories you want to share..

I have strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, grapes, plums and apples. We don't eat much jam so I freeze and dehydrate.

Our home was previously Amish so they planted all but the strawberries.

I have a stove in the summer kitchen -- technically not outdoors though.

Sure - we'd love to have help picking all that too -- I get tired of getting scratched with the brambles, tackled by poison ivy that loves to grow in them, etc.

    We have Citrus Trees:

    1 Lemon
    1 Naval Orange
    1 Tangelo

    and
    5 Papaya Trees
    1 Mango
    1 Banana Tree

I used to mail citrus up north for the holidays to family and friends but we are not suppose to do that anymore...so says the State of Florida.....anyways...

The fresh lemons are great in iced tea and I freeze the juice from all the citrus to make juices. I'm not crazy about mango or papaya but the DH, DS and the Iguanas love them. The bananas only produce once a year (if they don't get hurt by a frost) and I have to snatch and grab.

I also think it's cool that different parts of the country have their own specialites....there is a certain type of apple that we all scramble for here in Florida...they come out once a year, they are so sweet and I believe they come from Washington State....Honey Crisp Apples....I LOVE these apples and have only been able to buy them once a year for the past 2 years.

Hubby has been wanting to plant some fruit trees. We have pecan trees, but we had a late freeze this year so they didn't produce any pecans. Still have some left in the freezer from last year so least we will have pecan pie for Christmas.

The house we're renting has passionfruit, cherries, pomegranates, figs, lemons, grapes and peaches. I don't know what to do with the figs so they rot away.
The house we're moving to (that we have bought) has two apples trees, plums and grapefruit. I will plant a whole lot more, I love fruit trees and it has always been my dream to have my own house with fruit trees
