    Default Blueberries?

We want to put in blueberries this year. I have heard that you need to plant at least 2 different kinds. Is this true and if so why? i am just trying to figure out exactly what to get. Thanks!

Yes it is true. I purchased a couple of plants yesterday. The plants need to be close enough to polinate each other. I'm thinking about going back and getting a couple more plants.

We have 6 plants all together and form those 3 actually produce a great amount. Don't forget to protect them from the birds though. Last year our crop was pretty much wiped out by them. We netted the plants but they still found a way to get under the net. This year we need to rethink how to do that. The berries are fabulous though and organic. There's nothing like fresh blueberries and they are so good for you.

I just ordered several berry bushes and some small trees - we have too many little animals that like to munch on anything that I plant, but I keep on trying too. Can they (the blueberries) be grown in pots?

I would think they grow fine in pots. They sell them at the nursery potted and some had small berries, at least out here. I bought blueberry seeds to try them from scratch.
