    Default My new goats

I'm so excited, I picked up two pregnant goats over the weekend. One is due to kid out in late June and the other in the other in early August. They are milking goats (alpine and Saanen cross and Alpine and ? cross). I want to try making cheese and hopefully I can get the kids to switch to goats milk. They are so cute and so sociable, I didn't expect that. I have them penned in a movable pen so they can "mow" the yard. I've been busy putting making a pen in the the barn and putting up an outside area for them as well. so happy! here are some pictures. Clover is light brown and piglet is white.

Very cute and way too cool. When we move out of state this year (don't know where yet) I already told my dh we are getting goats, chickens and some rabbits. I think he thinks I'm crazy but they do save money. Congrts with you new family members

    How wonderful! Congratlations!!!

My sister and her family had goats for years. As long as you keep everything clean and chill the milk thoroughly, it tasted very much like fresh cow's milk. It gets goatier tasting the longer it sits in the fridge, but the joy of having your own animals is that you always get to drink the freshest milk!

Thanks for the tip. I decided to try goats instead of a cow for now.

Aaww they are very cute. My dad used to have a goat or 2. They are really funny, my kids used to love playing with them.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
