A free alternative to Cook'n is a program called Gourmet Recipe Manager. I am using it right now to type all the recipe books and magazines I have collected for the past couple of years. I love it because I can download most sites into it.

called Cook'n, that seems to fit the bill. I wrote the
company and although you can't scan the recipes directly
into the software, you can scan the images to your
computer and then load your scanned images to the
software. I am getting her this for her birthday.

It is a bit pricey though compared to a binder, but for
someone like my sister who has SO MANY of them, it
    should work well for her.

You can check it out at Recipe Organizer: Cook'n is the #1 Selling Recipe Organizer (The picture
there with the lady and all the recipes is funny. I
asked my sister when I sent her the link, if that was
    her...lol)

I stopped saving paper copies of recipes except for a few favorites. But electronic versions....well I've probably got more of those saved than I could possibly cook in one lifetime!

I use a binder with plastic sleeves, but this is an excellent idea as well. It would take up less space on the counter than laying the sheet flat, and it would make it easier to read.

I'm actually in the middle of becoming a recovering magazine addict...

Another idea is this: I'm scanning everything as digital files and keeping them on my computer. I've got the ones I use often printed out on 4x6 cards and put into a recipe card holder. Everything else will stay electronic until I want to use them.

I'm a recipe collector too and have different methods. I took a binder and put there all the pages with recipes. And I also use a recipe notebook where I write down the recipes I've already cooked. Usually I put those recipes which I was really pleased with.
