Frugal Journal??
Does anyone have a frugal journal where you keep ideas you come across etc.? If so what are the different ways you use it?
PS. How do you all make the signature lines with all the stuff in them?

I haven't done this yet, but am seriously thinking of it for this year. I generally do a goals list for the year that includes frugal goals. Then break that down into monthly goals and weekly and then daily. But I haven't kept an actual journal. I usually report all my spending/frugal activities on-line. I've been thinking of changing that. I need to see past successes to keep me motivated through the down times.
So I'm curious too. What do you who keep frugal journals put in them? The same stuff I'm doing with my goals lists? Or more?

I don't keep a journal persae. I have a notebook that has built in pockets in in. It's divided in three sections. In one section I write to do's, groceries, things I think I want/need, things the baby needs, etc. In the folder of that section I keep receipts etc.
In the second section, I write miscellaneous stuff down, meal plans, recipes, gifts I've purchased, appts. etc.
In the third section, I have all my debt listed and in the pockets I keep bills etc. I keep this notebook with me at all times, that way when the 'I Want' bug hits me in the store, I pull it out and I look at the list of my debt and then reevaluate whether I really need another 40$ shirt.
And to do your signature, up at the very top of your page is a link that says USER CP. Click that and then there's a list of links on your left hand side of the page and there is one that says edit signature.McD

I have one very used, very unorganized spiral notebook - I think I'll have to go get a 3-subject with pockets now - thanks for the idea!

I have a frugal journal, I suppose! LOL I never actually put a name to it, but I have a notebook that I write all the frugal things I do in. Then I can keep track of what I'm doing and it makes think twice before I do something that's not frugal. And if I'm not feeling very frugal, or that I'm not being frugal, I can look back at things I've done.

Hi Sondance,

I have a little spiral bound book that is supposed to be a journal. I write down all the frugal ideas...be it food, gardening, gifts, holidays...whatever!! I divided it into sections based on topic...made "tabs" out of post it note paper that I cut to size. Works great!!
To create a signiture you click up at the top right area of your screen where it says "User CP ", then click "Edit Signiture". You can put in whatever ya want!

I have kept one off and on. The problem is that journaling tends to me make me very obsessive. I soon feel like I have to write EVERYTHING down, and as soon as it's written down, it takes on a feel of solidity - and more importance than it should probably have in the overall scheme of life. I was thinking of trying again for the new year, resolving to be moderate. But it's probably doomed to failure. Still, I think it's a really good idea. It just may be something that won't ever work for me, because of my particular flavor of nuttiness.

I keep a journal for my everyday spending and budget. I use a composition book as I find out the pages don't tear out like in spiral notebooks. I have a journal that I got at Walgrees, I think for $1.00 that has "Reach For The Stars" in glitter across the front that I keep my goals, mini goals and progress updates in.
