    Default Make your own Coupon Binder

    I just read another thread about using coupons and it occured to me that some people may not know how to make their own coupon binder. So here goes...

    To make a nifty coupon binder get a school type 3 ring binder, place subject tabs in it (the kind that look like manilla folders with the tabs that stick out to write things on them) and between each tab place 3 or 4 baseball card sleeves (the kind meant to hold baseball cards). Write the sections of your store on the tabs (health and beauty, frozen etc...).

    Hope that helps someone

    I also placed slips of colored paper in the card slots to color code the sections. This made it easy to quickly flip through too. I used yellow for HBA, blue for frozen, red for meds, etc.

    That is a very good idea. I think I will color code mine to the tab colors.
    Thanks

    That's what I use too. It makes it a lot easier to find coupons than the accordian coupon book type.

    Can you believe that I couldn't find baseball card sleeves anywhere - Walmart - Target - Family DOllar - Dollar General. So, I got a small plastic conainer w/a lid, and just sorted my coupons into categories in envelopes. Not quite the system I wanted, but I will be able to dig through them quicker.

    I made mine years ago and love it. I also added a pen on string, a clip to hold my shopping list, a small calculator (attached with velcro), a sturdy envelope taped to the inside front cover to hold any coupons I may find in the store while shopping, and another envelope taped in to hold the coupons to give the cashier.

    I use this method-kinda...

    I use photo inserts instead of baseball card inserts. They have 3 slots on each page that measure 4X6 I think, so the larger coupons fit nicely.

    I label according to type. I also use dividers w/ tabs to label food, HBA, Paper, and Pet.

    I then have divided sections for:
    * CVS
    * Rite Aid
    * Stop & Shop (for cats etc)
    * rebate forms
    * Frees
    * Coupon Train info (I copy and paste WL and address info and print onto one sheet) Then I put all coupons and pre addressed and stamped enveloped in that area.

    The rebate forms and train info are placed in regular 8 1/2 X 11 inserts I had leftover from other projects.

    I have two of those pencil pouched that have the 3 holes to fit in a binder (Walgreens 19 cents when school started). One carries coups that need to be filed and the other carries pens, etc.

    I stuck some post it flags (free samples) to the front, so I can flag off stuff that is temporarily important.

    The baseball card dividers our at both walmart and target. They keep them by the registers. At walmart the register that has the cigarettes is the same one they have the baseball cards at. hope that helps.

    I have found the "trading card pages" at Wal-Mart in the office supply section. They are sold in a pack of 10 for $1.44. I have 100 of these pages in my binder, with 25 tabbed dividers. It cost me about $30 to put my binder together, but I have been using it for over two years now, and I save at least that much EVERY WEEK with double coupons.

    I LOVE my coupon binder! I even have a name for mine. I call it "My Precious".

    When I made my coupon binder I didn't have any money to spend and had to use what I had on hand. I had some regular page protectors and a 3 ring binder. I took the page protectors and used my sewing machine to sew the sections for the coupons. Then I just cut through the front layer of plastic to create the pockets. This way I was able to make them all sizes to fit the different size coupons.

    Hope this helps someone else.
