I'm not from Australia, but I have a friend who has just moved out there.
Let me tell you, from what she's told me about how much she's fallen in love with the place, I don't think we'll ever get her back

I think what appeals to her most is the warmth and friendliness of the Australians she's met. On a person level, she's having a very positive time meeting great people.
It's funny you should say that though, my SO is in Software Engineering and he's been made aware of quite a few great job opportunities in Australia but the politics put him off living there a great deal
ETA: I don't mean any offence by that, BTW, we live in Northern Ireland, we are in no position to judge anyone else!
More importantly, he's ginger and I'm even paler than he is, I don't think either of us would survive the sun

Like I said, BEWARE...
The Sun is very easy to survive compare with the politics here.
BEWARE, soon, Australia will be known as "The People's Republic of Australia". We will be armed with weaponry made in China, and along with the mighty Chinese soldiers we may rule the world one day!
Soon, we may be chanting China, China, China, Oi, Oi, Oi...
Civilisation, or even the existence of humankind will soon disappear from the face of Earth!

Welcome apple blossom!
Happy Australia Day to all frugal village Aussies!"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like."

Hell from Tasmania Apple Blossom, you seem more cheerful than he/she needing to return to the USA, poor thing sounds most overwhelmed by it all
Stay cheerful!!

I'm in SA
Hello fello Frugal Villagers,
I'm in South Australia on the outskirts of Adelaide. I've been noseying around for a few days, but there's so much to go through.
I can't believe the postings by the US people in this thread. Do you seriously believe the politics are better in the US? Quite agree politics leaves a lot to be desired here, but at least we don't have election campaigns that run for a year, cost billions, and you still end up with a dickhead like George W. Bush at the end of it! Twice!
Having been to the US four times and lived there for a short time, there's no way I'd ever want to live there. No offence intended, but almost everything is far better here IMHO.
