UGH -- that SMELL
It's BAD!
The stench of death and decay isn't limited to once living things... I was in the kitchen trying to get the dishes sorted and *wham* the smell made me gag!
What can I put in the fridge to keep my house smelling like a musky funky dump???? I have to keep it running (orders from Lowes) so the repairmen will know it's a cooling issue... you'd think they'd 'get' that by now... so I have to keep a warm, empty, noisy fridge running until at least Tuesday...
:help: It's coming to get me... I can smell it in the living room now too!!!!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Try boxes of baking soda. It absorbs odors.

Rub the interior of the fridge down with a vanilla extract soaked cotton ball, then put a box of baking soda in it....good luck!

I hope you took everything out of it.. if not take it out .. OMG !!
I have moved into places where they have not cleaned out the fridge good and it was rank to say the least.
When it wasn't my germs aka the first wash i use bleach on everything... a low percent in the water .. aka a gallon or so of water and a cap full of bleach. Then after that i use a solution of vinegar water or soda and water to clean the fridge out. Then i always have a thing of soda in the fridge and freezer.

My parents fridge broke when I was about 10 and it took them two weeks to be able to afford another one, in the meantime the old one just sat there (empty) and you would forget and come past and open it looking for something to eat and the smell would make you gag. It was clean and empty just the trapped air or something in the back, anyway it was AWFUL, so I can relate
The baking soda sounds good to me.

Stuffing it with newspaper will fix it fast. Change it a couple of times if necessary. It's something we did when I sold tupperware years back, but when my parents got a nearly new freezer that reeked of fish we tried it to see if it would work. It did, and they got a bargain on a stinky freezer. Good luck!

What the heck are they thinking why would it take that long to figure out if its a cooling issue.. should only take a few hrs for a fridge to cool properly should it not?

I had that, and I put some used coffee grounds in the fridge in a bowl, and it took care of the smell for me within a couple of hours!
