    Talking Frugal tip 10/5

    From the Tightwad Gazette III.....

    Dear Amy,
We give a frugal baby shower that we call a "casserole shower". We give it about three weeks before the baby is due. All the guests bring a casserole as their gift. The mom-to-br just puts them in the freezer until the baby arrives. Then, during those hectic postpartum days, she just has to pop a casserole from her freezer into the oven and dinner is ready! These showers are fun, easy and a godsend if you're the mom-to-be!

I LOVE this idea. I think it would be wonderful, especially for the new mommy of babies #2 and on. You KNOW SHE has her hands full.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

We did this for a friend who had a 2 YO and was expecting twins! We brought a bag of diapers and a casserole. She didn't have a freezer so we kept the stuff at my house and I ran one or two over to her every few days. She managed to make them last for about a month!

That's a great tip!! I know when I've had my kids,I didn't wanna come home and cook, but with when you have more than one, they have to eat!! Oh and I suppose if you only have one child...DH needs to eat as well

Next time someone has a baby...I'm taking them a pack of diapers, and a casserole

    Thanks!!

I wish they had done that at my shower.
My favorite gifts are useful ones.... diapers, wipes, cleaning supplies, stuff like that.
