    Default Con-Tact paper?

What are your favorite uses for Contact paper? The old-fashioned permanent-adhesive-backed stuff, not the repositionable shelf liner. (Truth be told, I'm using another brand I found at Target; the green and white floral design was a lot cuter than the Con-Tact I saw at Lowe's and Home Depot.)

Anyway, I originally bought it to make a bathroom scale look better--the original vinyl sheet on top was coming off, so I traced around it and cut a replacement piece of Contact. I also covered some coffee cans for storing odds and ends.

There's still tons of it left, and I don't want to waste it--any ideas? I could use it in any type of project. The green print would fit in anywhere in our house.

When I was a kid (way back when!) my neighbors mom would cover her plain notebooks with contact paper to decorate them. I thought they looked so cool!

My MIL covered an old card table with contact paper. Looked much better and was easy to wipe off.

I've covered plain cardboard storage boxes to "pretty" them up.

I've used them to make bookcovers for schoolbooks. Just don't peel off the backing and fold like you would the paper bag covers. Easy to keep clean with a quick wipe.

You can cut them into shapes to make "appliques"

The clear kind can be put on all kinds of things to make them stronger/wipeable/last longer. Our kids made bookmarks using cardboard & cut out & attached /colored pics/ real photos and covered with the clear contact paper. Great gift for grandparents.

When I was renting my very first place (studio apt at that ) I of course couldn't paint... I had these u-g-l-y cabinets...

I contacted them when I moved, I simply peeled it off and got my full security back.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I can't believe no one said placemats!

I refuse to spend money on placemats, because with kids they just get ruined anyway!

So now, we take the kids artwork and turn them into placemats. The kids love seeing their artwork as part of the dinner! Plus, these make great "frugal" but really thoughtful gifts for grandparents on Christmas and Mother's/Fathers's Days!

I also use them for window stencils! We have floor to ceiling windows in the front of our house and I love to dress them up on holidays! My favorite use for this is 4th of July. I cut stars out of the contact paper, stick them to the window, sponge paint the inside of the stars with red, white and blue tempra paint and pull the contact paper off. It looks really cute and the tempra wipes right off with water!
