Cheaper Dryer Sheets - works great!
I found this tip a long time ago and decided to give a try and found that it works great.
Instead of using dryer sheets I keep a container of 1 part liquid fabric softer and 3 parts water. I soak a clean sponge in the solution, wring it out and throw into the dryer.
The sponge takes the place of a dryer sheet and it really does work well.
I don't have any problems with spotting or buildup on my lint screen.

I used to do that, but it always seemed to be a pain in the behind to me. I just use a 1/4 of the amount of liquid fabric softener in my washing machine instead.

I've also heard of putting water and softener in a spray bottle and spraying the drum before you put the clothes in. I'm pretty sure that's already been mentioned here though.

Great tip Cymbaline! I used to use a sock and use the diluted fabric softener in the same manner and stopped doing it when dh had to take over all of laundry. Now that I'm back doing it I'll do this to save some money.

I had thought about dryer balls a long time ago and did a search on reviews on them and found that they really don't work.

I myself put tennis balls in the dryer ... it may or may not help with anything but it does help if you have something that needs fluffing up.
