I had to raise an eyebrow because my mind went elsewhere when I read the title

Silly American question... what are milk bags?
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

At first I thought it was for when you pump breast milk and store it but then I realized it was milk you buy at the store.

I wash them out and use them for everything - leftover piece of something, sandwich bags, wrapping up the open cheese. They make excellent freezer bags because of the weight of the plastic - so if you divide up large packages of chicken breast, hamburger, etc, just put the portions in the bags. I just squeeze the air out and knot them closed.
We haven't bought ziploc bags or plastic wrap in 3 years.

yes they make good freezer bags because they are heavy plastic. I used to use them to freeze dough (because the dough would expand a little before it froze and the heavy plastic could take it), but I haven't made dough in a while.

Another thing I freeze in them is spaghetti sauce. I make a big batch, just divide it into bags. I fill them about half way then fold over and tape closed. Then I lie them flat to freeze so they stack neatly in the freezer.

In Canada you buy milk in vacuum packed bags. They usually come 2 to a box and you angle-cut it open and it fits into a special holder (no the bag does not fall down as you pour it). I have relatives in Canada and was always fascinated by the milk bags.

This cracked me up -- DH and I use "milk bag!!" as an insult. We had no idea there was such a thing, lol.

I guess that was a very Canadian question..lol. Great ideas though!!
Its funny because I grew up in a very small town, I had never heard or seen a milk jug or carton until I moved to the city. Milk bags have always been the way milk was stored!Debts

I can't pour out of those huge jugs, way too heavy. I always end up dumping the first litre or so out on the first pour because of the weight of it. But then, pouring out of a bag is probably difficult for someone who is used to a jug.
