Just call me Martha Stewart
I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine. During our conversation I told her how I did certain things around my house. She has called me Martha Stewart in the past because of my suggestions and again just now. She suggested I tell ya'll.
One complaint she (actually her DH) had was no tea when he got in from work. My way: We have two refrigerators. One in the kitchen and one in the laundry room (long story on that one). I have 4 tea pitchers. One I keep kool-aid in and sometimes tea. The other 3 tea. I keep the kool-aid one and one tea in my fridge in the kitchen. I keep the other two with tea in the other fridge. When one in the kitchen runs out I replace it with one from the other fridge. I always have cold tea on hand.
Second complaint: She is re-doing her daughter's room. She can't find the curtians she wants. My way: When I re-did my daughter's room I bought bed sheets that matched her bed and made curtains. Due to her window being not the average size I got bedsheets that were larger. That gave her more of a swag look. I found the same color lace and sewed to the edges. I sewed the lace to the tie backs also that I made from the extra length I had at the bottom of the "curtains". My twin step sons just turned 13 and we are re-doing their room. One pulls for Carolina Gamecocks and the other Clemson Tigers. They have bunk beds so each has their team's comforter and pillows. Instead of painting, I got the removable stickers and each has a wall to decorate with their team stickers. I am doing the same with their curtains as my DD's. I am getting Clemson and Carolina bed sheets. They only have one window. So half will be Clemson and half Gamecocks. Of course no lace. It works for us.

I have also dyed curtains to match if the size is ok. In the kitchen, I've also used fabric paint and stencils. Works for me when I have the time.

I did a "Martha Stewart" one time. ExDH saw her debone a turkey on a show and stuff it with stuffing for thanksgiving. Well, He dared me. Guess what we had for Thanksgiving - A Stuffed De-Boned Turkey.
It was the first and LAST time I will ever de-bone one. That took alot of time and was not fun. LOL But I did it.

I made no-sew curtains for DD1's room by buying four flat sheets in two different but coordinating colors. Folded them over so that it looked like there was a complimentary color valance on the top. Attached them with clip rings and then put the rings on the rods. The added benefit is that because each curtain is made of doubled fabric they are much darker and help keep her room more comfortable for sleeping. They slide well with the rings and are easy to open and close.

OUr friends in NJ call me Betty Home Echy. Hehe Every time they would come over or when they lived with us there was always something baking in the oven for dessert, the front of the house was clean( bed rooms don't count towards a clean home they have doors for a reasonLOL), and hubby I managed to make everything work.
Here in Maine they call me Marth Steward. Especially after I threw a double birthday party and made both of my kids(Itheir birdays are a 3 yrs and 1 week apart) home made cakes. One was a 3 d pirate ship and the other was a 4 ft high castle.
But hubby knows that when I start going Martha Steward to call my doc b/c generally thats my manic side showing face.
